A/N: One shot prompt-Aubrey is walking home from a late class. She hears whimpering from an alley and carefully checks it out. Turns out to be Beca who looks like she's been attacked. Aubrey convinces Beca to go to the hospital. Her heart is breaking to see her friend and her crush so broken.

Aubrey kept her head down and pulled her light jacket a little tighter around her shoulders. It was mid October and the weather was chillier than usual. Being in the Atlanta area, it was a fifty-fifty chance when it came to the weather. It could be scorching, or it could be freezing. This year, apparently, the cold seemed to win over. At least it had on this night.

She had originally thought she was making a smart choice, taking the latest class possible, during her second year of grad school. That way, she could sleep in a little and have the majority of the day to do school work, or house work, or sit in on a Bella's rehearsal.

A light smile ghosted over her lips as she thought about the day before, when she sat in on one of the rehearsals. Beca was the new captain, this being her second year leading the all female a Capella group. She had decided to stay in Barden, after her first year, and now she ran the group, leading them to a second national win and Aubrey knew, from the previous day, she would lead them to their third.

The smile she wore only grew at the thought of the girl she once barley tolerated. Beca had become a close friend, and over the years, among the hangouts, the late night phone calls as she stressed over the set list, the times those calls weren't about the set at all, Aubrey realized something. Beca was a beautiful person. Inside and out. Beca was kind, caring, emotional. Beca cared for the group that Aubrey held so close to her heart. She was stubborn, but passionate. She gladly took Aubreys advice and didn't hesitate to tell her that she was a pain in the ass. Even if the smirk she had come to love, was in place as she said it.

Beca was a special person, a person that had somehow stolen Aubreys heart, and the blonde only wished she felt the same way.

She had broken up with Jesse the summer after their freshman year, the same summer she came out to the Bellas.

Jesse had been hurt, but eventually realized they were better off as friends, and he supported Beca as she found herself. Aubrey had been a little worried about him, but he had proven to be a good friend to Beca and that was enough for her.

A light breeze blew threw the trees and Aurbey shivered as she kept walking, just passing the Performing Arts building, getting closer to her shared apartment with Chloe.

It was when she turned the corner, heading away from the building she heard it. It was soft, and she almost didn't pay any mind to it, assuming it was the wind blowing.

However, something in her gut told her to slow down, to listen. So she did, tilting her head a little, listening carefully. To her left was a walkway, that lead to the back door of the building. It wasn't completely dark, as the lights in the outside of the building illuminated the walkway in an orange glow.

She almost gave up, taking another step forward when she heard it again and her heart started to hammer in her chest.

It was a soft, barley audible sound. A sound she only heard when someone was trying not to cry, but couldn't stop it. A soft whimper, and what sounded like shuffling.

She took a breath, reaching for her keychain where she kept her pepper spray. She knew she shouldn't investigate, but she also couldn't walk away, not after hearing what she had.

She took a breath, walking to her left onto the walkway. Her steps were careful and quiet as she kept her eyes peeled. It seemed deserted. And the sound had stopped. She lowered the pepper spray and slowed to a stop looking around with a furrowed brow.

That's when she heard it. It was soft, but it was close. And she somehow recognized it. Her palms were sweaty as she moved forward. About fifteen feet further was the side doorway to the building and she carefully peered into it.

Her stomach dropped as her shadow fell over the cowering figure in the doorway.

"Oh my god," she breathed as the persons hands flew up to protect their face while they tried to back away, a fearful sob erupting from their small body.

Aubrey felt sick, her eyes unfocused as she took in the sight before her.

It was Beca. She was there, she was responsible for the whimpers.

She dropped to the ground immediately.

"Beca," She said softly, "Beca it's okay, it's me," her voice shook as her hands hovered over the girl. Her hair was tousled, her hands bloody.

Aubreys heart beat harder with every detail she took in. The blood, her torn shirt, how it was completely ripped open, exposing her stomach and bra covered chest. The knees of her jeans were ripped and bloody, her body was shaking as she cried and tried to shield herself from Aubrey.

At the sound of her voice, two scared, tear filled eyes landed on her. Her lower lip was split and bleeding. Her makeup smeared under her eyes, partially covering the bruises forming there.

Aubreys mind was running a million miles an hour as she viciously ripped her jacket from her shoulders.

"Don't be afraid," She said carefully as she moved toward her. "I've got you now, you're safe." She said placing the jacket over her.

Beca seemed to be in shock, she didn't speak, and her eyes were wide and unfocused. She flinched when Aubreys fingers brushed against her and the blonde pulled away, not wanting to frighten her more.

"Come on, let me help you up." She said. "Can you stand?" She asked softly. She wanted to ask what happened, but she was certain she already knew. Her first priority, was to get Beca out of the cold, and safely into her apartment.

She was glad when Beca nodded shakily and slowly moved to stand.

"Can I help you?" Aubrey asked, seeing the way she winced as she moved. She looked up at her for a second before nodding again and Aubrey didn't waste a second. She stood up and gently helped Beca to her feet, wrapping the jacket more securely around her shoulders.

She held back her tears as Beca quickly pulled it closed, covering her body and looking down. Aubrey felt like she might throw up as she very slowly reached out, so Beca didn't startle, and zipped her jeans, then buttoned them. Becas eyes closed and she let out a harsh breath.

"I'm going to take you home, okay? Get you warm and then we can talk."

There was no answer as she lead her out of the doorway and down the path back to the main road.

Chloe looked up from her phone when the door opened and Aubrey walked in, Beca held securely by the waist.

"Bree?" She asked as she moved into the light, closing the door with her foot.

Chloe's eyes grew as she sat up. "Beca? Oh my god." She gasped shooting up from the couch.

"Chloe, can you get me a glass of water please?"

The girl nodded, rushing to the kitchen as Aubrey sat Beca down on the couch.

She knelt in front of her, reaching up gently and moving her hair out of her face.

Seeing her in the light was worse than she thought. Her face was tear stained, bruised in various places, her lip split and bruising and a bloody nose.

"Jesus Beca, who-who did this to you?" She whispered and Beca looked down.

Chloe came back in then with the water and knelt beside Aubrey. She was already in tears seeing Beca like this as she handed her the water.

She took it with an unsteady hand and brought it up to her trembling lips.

"Beca, we need to get you to the hospital." Chloe said and for the first time, Beca spoke.

"N-no." She said and Aubrey shook her head.

"Beca you're hurt, you-you need to see a doctor."

She shook her head. "No, I just n-need a shower." She said.

Chloe looked at Aubrey, seeing the anger and despair on her face.

"Beca were you... did the person who did this, did they-" Chloe started and Becas hand shot up to cover her ears and her eyes squeezed shut.

"No! No, I'm fine. I just want to take a shower, please?" She almost begged as more tears escaped her eyes.

Aubrey felt the lump in her throat grow.

"Beca, please-" Chloe started but she shook her head violently.

"Chloe," Aubrey said gently. Chloe looked at her.

"Aubrey if who ever did this... if she takes a shower then..."

"Please," Came a broken whisper. "Please,"

They looked at Beca, her eyes looked empty, yet they were pleading.

Chloe sighed. She couldn't force her, and she wouldn't make this any harder on her. As much as she hated it, she nodded.

"I'll get you something clean to wear." She said, standing up and walking toward her bedroom.

"Come on sweetie." Aubrey said standing up and carefully helping Beca to her feet. She took the glass of water and set it down helping her to the bathroom.

She had just turned the shower on when Chloe walked in with a change of clothes, setting them on the counter as she tried to avoid staring at her, not wanting to make her uncomfortable, but trying to assess the damage.

"We will be right outside. If you need anything, please call for me?" Aubrey asked and Beca nodded.

"Thank you." She said looking at the shower as steam began to rise out of it.

A moment later, the door closed and she was alone, left to stare at her broken reflection. At the bloody, bruised mess that was her body. The once untouched, clean skin now felt dirty, tainted. She was sore all over. Her body had been used, and treated like nothing. Her fists clenched painfully as she glared at her reflection. It was as if she could feel it physically on her skin. She could still feel the hands, the rough skin, the painful grip.

She just wanted it gone. She wanted to be clean.

"She was so scared. I guess she thought I was whoever it was that did this." Aubrey said as she looked out the window. "Coming back."

Chloe wiped her tears. "I shouldn't have left her. I was there with them tonight and I left with the others. She stayed behind to work a little more on the arrangements, and I just left."

Aubrey looked at her distraught best friend. "Chloe no, don't do this. It's not your fault, come on." She said pulling her into a hug. "Beca needs us, she needs us to be strong."

Chloe nodded against her shoulder. "I'll kill whoever did this to her."

Aubrey nodded. "She said they didn't-" she started as she pulled back. "But her shirt is torn, and her jeans were undone."

Chloe looked down, shaking her head. "She shouldn't have showered. She is washing away the evidence, whoever did this could get away." She said looking back up.

"We couldn't force her to go to the hospital Chloe. I think enough of her control was taken from her tonight."

Chloe felt more tears fall from her eyes as she nodded. "I can't believe this happened."

"Me either." Aubrey said dropping her head into her hands.

"Bree, it's been almost an hour." Chloe said and Aubrey looked at the clock.

"Should we check on her?"

Aubrey nodded and stood up, Chloe following behind her. When they reached the bathroom. They stopped and Aubrey looked at Chloe.

"The shower is still running."

"Knock, make sure she is okay."

Aubrey left three light knocks on the door and listened. Nothing.

She did it again.

"Beca? Are you okay?"

Still nothing. Aubrey got closer to the door and listened. She could faintly hear the sound of Beca crying.

She stood back. "Beca? I'm coming in, okay?" She called and twisted the handle.

She pushed it open, afraid of what she might find. She stopped, her eyes filling with more tears.

Beca looked up from where she sat against the tub. Still wearing the same clothes. The blood dried on her hands and face.

"I c-couldn't do it." She cried. "I couldn't do it Bree."

Aubrey was by her side in a second, pulling her into her arms.

"It's okay Beca, shh." She whispered as Chloe peeked in.

"Please, take me to the hospital?" She asked. "I-I didn't wash, I couldn't. I don't want him to get away with this, I don't want him to hurt anyone else." She said and Chloe nodded quickly.

"Of course Beca, Ill pull the car up, Bree, help her out?" Chloe said as she moved to leave.

"Yeah, I've got her." Aubrey said, not taking her eyes off of Beca as she carefully helped her stand up.

Once Chloe was gone, Aubrey gently took Beca by the arms.

"I'm proud of you Beca, and I'll be there with you the whole time." She said gently. She heard a soft sniffle before Becas dark blue eyes lifted to meet hers. She could see that she was struggling to keep eye contact and smiled at her gently.

"Promise?" She whispered, and finally gave in, and looked away from her.

Aubrey had seen Beca in various states, and emotions over the last two years. This wasn't one of them, and her heart ached seeing her so broken and vulnerable. Even if she never got the courage to tell her the truth, if she never told her how she truly felt about her. If she never told her she loved her. Was in love with her. She would show her. In any and every way she could.

"I promise."
