Disclaimer: I do not own Silent Hill, it's property of Konami. The characters and events that take place however, are my own invention.

Author's note: This is a little introduction to the story i want to tell. Basically i just sat down her, and felt like i should write a little something for you, before beginning with the actual story. That's why this chapter is so small. However, i hope it can give you a little taste of what's to come. Reviews will always be welcome, and i'll try to update as often as possible. Hope you enjoy it.

Silent Hill – Cheating the polygraph

Her knees had already started to fail by the time she realized the true nature of her current current problem. It wasn't a dream. It wasn't a nightmare. An hallucination? No. Had she gone mad? Quite possible, considering the last years of her life. Yet, the pavement under her feet, that smell of something rotten that you cannot identify, and the cold, foggy weather that circled around her, assured her that she was deep down the hole, with no way to go back.

You can't just crawl out once you're inside. She'd learned it the hard way, when it happened. And at that moment, she was reminded of just how tough it really is.

She let herself fall on her knees, gasping for breath, and somehow finding relaxation on the cold stone touching her legs, from the sidewalk she had stopped at. Looking behind, she saw a jewelry store. The windows were dusty, barely giving you a glimpse of whatever was inside, yet, she already knew it was empty. Empty desks, empty cashing machines, empty bathrooms. Not a soul in sight, and barely any sign of civilization, aside from the buildings that served no purpose.

From time to time, she could hears crapes and what sounded like distant footsteps, yet, as she tried to close in on the the sound, it just disappeared.

The jewelry store reminded her of the wedding ring on her ring finger. It was a beautiful golden ring that had cost her husband quite a bill. At the time, he had told her such a beautiful girl should have a ring that is at least as beautiful as one of her eyes. Her eyes were regular brown colored, but to him, it was something he could stare at for hours. Actually, he'd say the same thing about her long, lustrous black hair, her perfectly laden teeth, and even her flawed, not very smooth, but charming face. At first, it caught her heart, delighted at such attention and admiration. With time, doubt had grown.

Where was he now? Couldn't he come at that moment, lay a hand through her cheek, comfort and tell her it's gonna be alright? No. He wasn't there, and he couldn't be there.

Trying to remember the last time she saw him, an image of their bed formed in her head. It was not a good memory however, considering both had their backs turned to each other, and none were thinking about making love. Yes, they were awake, but no, they didn't want to look at each other.

Why? "Where are you?"
