Author's Note: This is the first piece of fanfiction I have written for The Chronicles of Narnia, and I'd like to write more, so this is just a step to get me started. I would love reviews, that would be amazing. Thank you for reading!
Seeing Narnia
Peter Pevensie saw Narnia the most in the summer of the comparably bleak, dreary world of man. Walking the bustling streets, he felt the sun heating his back as it did when he and his siblings took a break from their royal duties as Kings and Queens of Narnia on the golden beach outside of Cair Paravel. The gentle breeze was the same that he and Edmund had experienced in Narnia, wind whipping their faces as they rode around the land for hours that seemed never-ending. As Peter and his siblings ambled through the small park, the scent of flowers and pollen brought him back to when they strolled through the gardens of Cair Paravel, completely content with their lives. And when Peter realized that he was slowly becoming content in the world of man, he could swear that he heard a lion's roar, and he knew that all would be well once again.
The calming winter provided Susan Pevensie with a glimpse of Narnia. The blanket of snow reminded her of when she and Lucy would visit the beavers, bundled in layers of clothes and blankets in the small, comfortable dam as they recovered from the brisk Narnian temperatures. The various street lamps she encountered resembled the lamp-post of Lantern Waste, making her chuckle to herself as she recalled Mr. Tumnus' confusion of Lucy's arrival. Watching children play in the snow sparked her memory of when she and her siblings first arrived in Narnia and had a snowball fight, a tradition that carried on every Narnian winter through their final year of reign. And as Susan revived this tradition when the Pevensies were outside of their home, she could swear that she heard a lion's roar, and she knew that all would be well once again.
For Edmund Pevensie, Narnia was most present in the crisp fall. The satisfying crunch of leaves beneath his feel prompted memories of leaves of many hues that would gracefully float to the balconies and through the open doors and windows of Cair Paravel. The warm glow of the fire on an especially cold day brought him back to when he would have nightmares of Jadis and couldn't sleep, when Susan would curl up beside him and the fire, staying awake with him until sunrise. Riding through town with his family in the car and seeing the changing foliage made him acknowledge the time they relentlessly chased the white stag through the woods. And when Edmund smiled at this memory, he could swear that he heard a lion's roar, and he knew that all would be well once again.
Young Lucy Pevensie noticed Narnia in the blooming spring. When the chill of winter gave way to the glory of spring, she recalled the great thaw that ended Narnia's eternal winter and began to diminish Jadis' power. The sunshine and glistening rocks of the babbling brook brought to her mind trying to teach Peter to paint the river at Beruna's bridge, when Naiads unintentionally splashed their work, resulting in a playful water fight between the King and Queen and the water spirits. The light wind rustling the tree leaves caused Lucy's ears to perk up, hoping that they would whisper the latest gossip to her as they had before in Narnia. And when Lucy asked her siblings to listen for their whispers, she could swear that she heard a lion's roar, and she knew that all would be well once again.
