A/N: This is inspired by Matt Bellamy/Muse's Exogenesis Symphony and the story behind this beautiful piece of music, hence the title. I've had the plan for this in my files for the last year, and after watching Interstellar yesterday was inspired to work on it.
EXOGENESIS
Who are we, [and] why are we here? – Matt Bellamy
Prologue
As the sun rose over the horizon, turning the sky over the salt plains blood red, she could have believed – for a moment, at least – that she was home on Vegetasei.
But she was not, and never would be. This planet lacked a second sun, lacked the comforting weight of the gravity that had surrounded her since birth, and the moon here orbited on a far slower cycle. For those Saiyans old enough to remember Vegetasei in all its glory, this would never be home, and they would always live with the shame of its destruction.
"What makes you think that he will do any better?" the man beside her asked. "An outsider; raised under Frieza's wing and by that fool Nappa. You think he will come here and solve all your problems? I doubt that will even reach him," he spat, tail unfurling in disgust as he gestured to the probe in her hands. They were alone, having woken before dawn to launch the small spacecraft, a secret she had kept hidden from all the others.
"It will reach him," she replied, infusing her tone with all the authority she could muster. "He is my son. He is your King; so you'd be mindful to speak of him with respect. He will change things."
"He is not the King until he is here. And until then we need to stop looking to our past, and start thinking about the present in front of us. These cubs are fucking crazy."
"Hn." She didn't disagree that the antics of the younger generation were concerning, and that's why they needed Vegeta, the Legendary.
She lifted the probe and hurled it into the air, watching as it shot towards a small planet that lay across the universe, carrying coded messages for her eldest son.
