Nothing Lasts Forever

A Divergent Triology One-shot

I sit in the chair and hold our little boy. He turned three yesterday. Tris walks in and grabs my hand.

"Hey you." She says and leans down to press her lips firmly to mine for a moment. "What do you want to do today?" she asks me

"How about we get together with Christina and Will and go to the park? I bet she could bring Lily." I reply

"'kay I'll go call them. Will you get Mason ready?" she asks me "Yeah, I'll meet you downstairs in ten minutes, okay?"

"Okay." Ten minutes later I'm waiting downstairs for Tris with Mason. She came downstairs and grabbed my hand then I kissed her on the cheek.

"Come on," I said "I bet that they are waiting for us."

When we go downstairs I see Christina and Will waiting with Lily running around in the grass.

"Let's go guys." and we all pile into the car.

After about 3 hours at the park I take Tris and Mason out to dinner. After dinner we spend a few more hours at the fair that came to town a few days ago. By the time we get home it about nine so Tris puts Mason to bed and comes upstairs.

"Goodnight Tobias." she whispers and kisses me. She lays her head on my chest, and we fall asleep just like that.

I wake up in bed and look next to me. No Tris. It was all a dream. I break down in tears. Tris has been dead for a full week. She is truly gone.
I guess nothing lasts forever.
