This is the first story I have ever written. It's definitely not done but I posted it so it could get reviewed and help me improve my writing for the future. Thank you for taking the time to read my work, and remember any criticism is welcome.
"Checkmate!"
"Boy am I glad Jeerea brought this stupid game back from his pilgrimage."
"Your just upset because you always lose."
"I don't alwa-"
Suddenly a door on the far side of the room opened to reveal a tall and prominent figure. "Can we help you?" asked one of the chess playing quarians. The figure walked into the room, slowly examining his surroundings, then looked at one of the quarians, "Are you Xen'Daala vas Idenna?" The quarian stood up and crossed his arms, "That depends on who wants to know." The figure chuckled, "My boss told me you'd have an attitude like that."
"Who exactly is your boss?"
"That doesn't matter right now, all that matters is that he wants to meet with you and he sent me to find you."
"Why would your boss want to meet with me?"
"You sure ask a lot of questions. Let's just say he believes you can help him, and in return he'll make your life better."
"I'm not meeting with anybody until I know who it is and what it's about."
At this point the mysterious quarian started to get annoyed, he unholstered his pistol and leaned on the table towards Xen, making sure Xen noticed the pistol in his hand. "All you need to know is I'm not the kind of person you want to get angry. So do you want to do this the hard way or the easy way?"
"Is that supposed to scare me? Why would you go through all the trouble to find me, just to end up shooting me?"
The mysterious quarian began to smile, "Who said anything about shooting?" In a flash, he whipped Xen in the side of the head with his pistol, knocking him out cold. He then looked at the other quarian who was clearly shocked. "If you say anything about what just happened, I will come back here and hunt you down." The quarian's eyes rolled to the back of his head as he fainted and fell to the floor. The mysterious quarian picked up Xen's body and took it to his shuttle.
Xen awoke to a throbbing pain on the left side of his head. He found himself in the medbay of a ship with what he assumed to be a doctor hunched over at her desk. Xen looked around the room, searching for any clues that would tell him who abducted him. The walls were vacant and there was nothing on any of the tables except medical tools. All of a sudden Xen felt an intense pain in his head, he couldn't help but let out a loud grunt. Startled, the doctor immediately spun around and looked at Xen. "Oh, you're awake."
"Where the hell am I?" Xen said angrily.
"Don't worry about that. You should really just lie down and rest."
"Forget that, you better tell me where I am or else."
The doctor subtly reached under her desk and pushed a button. Almost, immediately the doors burst open and in rushed four heavily armored quarians. All four quaians were aiming directly at Xen. "What's the problem ma'am?" said one of the quarians.
