I Remember
I remember
I was twelve
Or older, with a
Braid proudly draped
Across my thin shoulder.
You had lessons
To be taught
You were
Like a textbook
Without the crinkly pages.
Your voice
The fanfare
For knowledge;
My ears opened
I learned all I could;
War and love-
Manhood-that's a pain
And Jedi,
Much about Jedi.
I knew
The great Jedi
And the glory days
Of the Republic.
I knew music and cooking and
Even a little sewing
From you.
I also learned cruelty, betrayal,
The taste of revenge
The stench of flesh
Burned by a blade,
A dead corpse
When I saw one.
Lose bloodline now
Renewed,
You learned
Betrayal is inevitable;
A trait fabricated into
Everybody; that
Weaves the Galaxy.
