Disclaimer: If I owned Fire Emblem, even IS would kick me out for this thing... and then immediately after take all of my ideas for the series. Gosh darn it, IntSys.
Note: So much innuendo that you'd be wondering whether or not this is a friendship fic or a ship fic. You decide. I'm more than happy to bump up the rating if necessary.
"Wait… let me get this straight." Marth stared at Kris, narrowing his eyes. "Are you telling me that you are going to skip a day just so you can go out and get a hoe?"
Kris sighed and shook his head. "My liege, it's nearing growing season and I do need to go back home and help out the village. They don't have enough working hands this year. Besides…" He rubbed his head in embarrassment and flushed. "I kind of broke my last hoe."
"Seeing as how strong you are and can thrust with such power with your sword while locked in motion, it's not that hard to imagine," Marth remarked.
The lord's retainer just shrugged and picked out a hoe from its rack, inspecting it closely. "It won't be missed. It was horribly filthy anyways."
"What are you looking for anyways?" He asked, looking over at everything in store.
"Well, something well-built, fresh and new…" Kris set down the hoe, finding it satisfactory, and picking up another one. "Like this one."
They paused for a moment, letting the buzz of the small crowd settle in the air.
"Wait, my liege, what are you even doing here in this establishment?"
"Please don't call me the equivalent of 'master' in public, good friend."
"My apologies, m… Mark."
Marth sighed from his bro's terrible improv skills. He was just too much of an honorable person. "Well, is it really such a sin for me to come and look at the tools of your old trade? I'm interested, that's all. Besides, I quite enjoy coming out and walking amongst the throng of my people, and no one even recognizes me!" he did his best to reason.
"Well, uh…" Kris looked up and saw that there really was no one that could recognize either of them, both due to the lord's disguise and his own lack of fame. "I suppose."
Marth laughed, his voice full of mirth. "Oh, just pick one out and we can go home. You did say something about preparing the seed too, am I right? You wouldn't mind if I come along, would you?"
Kris smiled gently. "Of course not, m… Mark." He selected a hoe and put it on the counter. He was just about to pay for it when he stopped and turned around, giving his lord a confused look. "Wait, what about-"
"Oh, it's fine. Elice will take care of everything that I haven't already organized out beforehand, and Shiida told me it was fine to go out and get some experience in the field. No harm in getting your own hands dirty to know more of your own people, hm?" Marth brought out his own money and set the payment on the counter, winking at a flabbergasted Kris. "And allow me."
"You're just-"
"Totally not escaping my job so I can spend some time with a good friend. I mean, my best man is skipping a day, so why can't I? Come on, Kris."
Again, he just sighed and shook his head, carrying his own new hoe under his arm. "Sure. Why not."
"You're not just being shy about this, aren't you?" Marth teased, laughing as he lead his out and mounted his horse. Kris quickly followed suit and grumbled something. They both rode out of the city.
"Sir, my work is hardly as romantic as you think it is."
Marth shrugged, his face jubilant. "But some work is fun, is it? Besides, how hard can it be?"
"Very, very hard."
A/N:
This was a lot funnier in my head. Oh well. Seeing as how I'm still an immature teenager, I'm still giggling over this every time I look over it, whoops.
*write this instead of editing better things ok Kris*
Any commentary... will be amusing, at least.
