Sam isn't a follower, not in the typical sense:
he likes rules (they make sense; his brain is wired
with a desire understand) - - -
they were created for a reason,
and the reason was to create a framework
for working to create stability - - -
But there's something about Steve,
in his ruthlessly moralistic beliefs
and the charismatic way he carries himself,
quiet in his determined diligence
that Sam finds strangely magnetic,
and suddenly, his interest's piqued.
The rules that dictate Sam's understanding
of the world let him understand the necessity
for socialization because somehow,
Steve finds a way into Sam's
perfectly constructed life
pretty easily: they both understand
the intensity of war; Steve's polite
in discussing Sam's life as a decorated solider,
and Sam returns the favor
about Steve's life prior to The Serum
(but Steve's an open book
and Sam's learned to be the same way
so it's not like they're hiding
much from each other).
Sam's life has some rules,
but nothing's being broken
to let Steve in as a friend.
