I had this line in my head and I had to write it down.

Light~

I stepped into the white nothingness and looked around. Nothing. It was just… white… nothing but white all around me…

"Why did you do it? A quiet voice called to me.

"Who's there?" I screamed.

"Why did you kill them?" it called again.

"I don't know! Who are you?" I screamed, tears running down my face. I had a feeling I knew what it was talking about.

"You know who I am, Yagami-kun. Answer me, why did you do it? Why did you kill so many innocents?" I knew this answer.

"I wanted a perfect world! There would be no crime, no wars, no hate. It would be perfect, for all the good people to live in!"

"Is that all? Or do you have any other reason?" Then he, the face that had haunted me since he died in my arms, materialized out of the nothing.

"No! There is no other reason!" I screamed, not seeing the truth.

"So why did you kill them? What did they do to deserve to die? Were they evil? They had their reasons, Yagami-kun!" he replied, voice holding more emotion than this man had ever shown before. It hurt me to see him angry.

"…" I offered no reply, trying to stop my tears of insanity.

"Why did you kill them? Did you just want a perfect world? Was there another reason? Was there a person driving you? Why?" I didn't want to tell him. Then he just kept questioning me. "Did you hate someone enough to kill them? Then could you just not stop? What was the reason? Why did you want a perfect world?" I couldn't hold the words any longer.

"I just wanted it for my angel! You're my angel! Before I met you, it was just an impulse and then… we met and I… I wanted a perfect world for you! For you Lawliet! I wanted to make it right and then you would be with me and no one could come between us! I wanted a perfect world for you!"

Light didn't know there were people on the other side of the wall, watching him. Soichiro turned to the doctor standing beside him. They all knew what had driven his son to scream in the middle of the room. He had felt his heart break. When L died in his arms, Light's sanity had snapped that exact moment. That's why he began screaming "I am Kira." He had hoped to bring L back.

"Matsuda, I believe we can leave now." They all knew who Light was and why he did it. He wanted it for his angeL. What scared the men the most was not how Light loved L, but what he had screamed in the white room. It scared them to get those answers because, well, there was no one asking questions.
