Night had fallen in the forest; the fog had spread to create shadow figures of the creatures that roamed.
The darkness didn't deter Theo from his mission; he would find her.
He spotted trails of her ghostly train streaking through the dead leaves and snapped twigs from the sandals on her feet.
Theo was careful not to dirty himself in his effort to find his Raven Queen in the forest; his suit was white, per her request.
His ears caught a hum in the distance; the tone was sultry yet completely off rhythm. Theo was sure it was his Raven Queen. He continued his pursuit, his desire fueled by the sound becoming louder.
Theo placed his palm on the large tree next to him and peered over the side of it with narrowed eyes. The offbeat tone and rustling of leaves resonated close by.
And there she was, his Raven Queen. Her arms were raised, fluttering around as she spun slowly to her unrhythmic hum. Her wavy, blonde hair billowed from her movements; the raven feathers perched atop her head in a woven flower crown didn't fall.
She wore a black ball gown covered in dark feathers from the strapless neckline to the top of the puffy skirt. Red beading lined in the center of the corset where laces were meant to be.
The dress complemented her fair skin, and it accentuated the raging red scar resting on her collarbone that she received from her time in Malfoy Manor; she'd decorated it proudly with feathers.
"Luna, love," Theo called to her. "We're going to be late for the Halloween Gala. You were supposed to be back two hours ago!"
Her humming and spinning ceased, and his Raven Queen smiled softly at him.
"Forgive me, Theo. The Trofflers liked my tune so much, I couldn't say no," she replied.
Theo snorted lightly to himself and strode towards her. He'd gotten used to his wife wandering in the forest behind their house for her creatures; looking for her was a challenge he took a guilty pleasure in. Because finding her relieved him of the fact that he almost couldn't find her in Malfoy's dungeon five years ago.
Once he reached his Raven Queen, Theo took her small hand and kissed her knuckles gingerly. "Are the Trofflers satisfied now?" he asked as he straightened up; however, he didn't let go of her hand.
Luna nodded, a victorious expression on her face. "Yes, I believe so. I'm free to attend the gala as promised." Her eyes swept over his body. "You wore the white suit."
Theo kissed her hand again with a hint of amusement shining through his eyes. "Anything for my Raven Queen."
Luna giggled airily in response and walked alongside him through the forest. "Wonderful. That means the Deviled Drogs won't ruin the night. They're rather ghastly on Halloween, you know."
Theo listened to every word of her creature explanation; it didn't bother him a bit. As he'd told her, anything for his Raven Queen. After he found her, he was never letting her go.
