Taking over
"…And I need you to be a very part of that."
It was odd how simple words like that could create such a sense of dread in a person, Sharon thought as Pope and Taylor looked at her.
"How exactly can I help? This matter does not seem like something that F.I.D would be involved with." Sharon asked.
"It isn't a matter for F.I.D. We were discussing how the restructuring could work and it seems like everyone would be best served if you took over Major Crimes." Pope answered.
But before he could say anything else Sharon took over. "You want me to take over a division filled with people that hate me after their beloved Chief quits? Everyone is going to assume that I shoved her out so that I could get the job. They'll never accept my authority."
"If you give them enough time they will. And if you accept the position then we would of course promote you." Taylor smiled at Raydor like he thought this would help.
"Captain, I think you're thinking of this in the wrong way. Chief Johnson loved this division. I'm sure she would want someone to take over that would protect the team just like she would. You're the only one that fits the description." Pope assured Sharon.
Sharon just shook her head. It didn't matter what Pope said because she knew that the team would not accept her so easily. But she also knew that he was right about Brenda and what she would want for her team. The only question was did she want to deal with their hate just to protect something important for her friend?
"Alright. I'll take over Major Crimes but I would like to be able to pick someone myself to replace Gabriel within the team."
