Delirium Trigger
When someone is pushed off the edge, just how far do they fall?
Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh. Or the title of the story, or the chapter titles. Which is a title/are random lyrics from a Coheed and Cambria song.
Chapter I - Subtle Demise, the Legitimate Cry
The bus squeals to a stop in front of Domino High. It is Monday. The start of a fresh, new week.
Ryou Bakura quickly steps off, avoiding eye contact with his surrounding peers. His focus is instead on the door ahead of him. Right now, that is his only concern.
He makes it. Next priority: reaching his locker.
Where is it? Where is it? Ryou begins to panic. Not a second after, he breathes a sigh of relief. There it is, number 438. With shoulders hunched and head down, he walks briskly toward it, trying his best not to call any attention to himself.
After what seems like forever, he reaches his locker and immediately turns the lock to the right combination. Geography book, music book, foreign language book. There, he has them all.
And there's the bell.
Again relieved, the teen turns to go to his first class. So far, so good. Maybe the rest of the day will be the same.
12:45 pm - Lunch
Ryou closes his locker and checks his watch. Halfway through. Just a couple more hours. Maybe he'll stay invisible until then.
"Hey, Ryou!" a friendly voice calls.
He winces and turns around, searching for the voice's owner.
"Oh… hi Anzu," he says, trying to sound as cheerful as possible.
"I've noticed you've been by yourself a lot the past few days. Something bothering you?"
Something bothering me? Something bothering me! How dare she, of all people, ask me that!
"No. Just tired, that's all." He tries to force a smile, but fails miserably.
Anzu grins, oblivious. "Ok then. Just checking up on you. Gotta go!" With that, she walked off.
Ryou slams his fist on his locker. She is so foolish, so immature. She has no idea what it feels like.
He looks around.
None of them do.
"Out of my way, bitch!"
Ryou feels the hands grab him, he feels the lockers against his body, and he feels the floor against his skull. He looks up, searching for the perpetrator. Nothing. No one even glances his way.
Just like every other day…
3:00 pm - After School
"Hey, what's up Ryou?"
Ryou turns, not even trying to sound friendly, not even caring. "Hello Yugi."
Yugi. You are the worst. You ruined the life I thought I had. Bakura treats me better than you. The Pharaoh should have gotten rid of you when he had the chance.
"You feeling alright? You look a little down."
Ryou clenches his teeth. "I'm fine, Mutou."
Yugi looks at him for a long moment. "Well, ok then. You can talk to me whenever you want. Remember that."
It's too bad you don't listen…
Ryou looks on as Yugi heads for the door. Feeling inside his backpack, he calls out: "Wait, Yugi!"
The boy turns. "Yeah?"
Ryou stares at him, no expression on his face. "I do have something to say. Something I've been wanting to say for a long time…"
A flash.
A scream.
A look of confusion.
The echo of a gunshot resonates through the halls.
As mentioned before, the story has nothing to do with the song "Delirium Trigger". I just thought the title fit, as do the lyrics (sort of). If I'm violating any rule at all, please tell me, and I will fix it. You don't have to report me or anything. And I will update when I update. Thank you.
