Bass and Gen Fu - Old Friends

Me: Since I've always liked character development and interaction between each other, I'll be writing a few one shots about two or three characters. Or should I just turn it into a chapter-based thing? Yeah, I have no idea. Let's begin!

Before the DOA5 Tournament (Waiting Rooms) -

Tensing and flexing his still powerful muscles, "Mr Strong" gave off the air of someone who thought they were going to win. Aside from the odd leotard he was wearing.

The waiting room didn't exactly provide anything of much interest; it was a rusting metal box with TV screens showing the current events. Mr Strong sighed and leaned back on his fold chair, which evidently began to creak and groan under incredible weight.

"Hell, I'm bored … When the hell will Zack hurry this joint up?!" thought Mr Strong, impatient as always. The other fighters were in their own rooms, preparing themselves; Mr Strong was up first in the quarter finals.

As Mr Strong quickly chugged down an entire bottle of water, there was a knock on the door.

"Yeah?" replied Mr Strong, curious and impatient to his visitor. Finally!

As the metal door swung open, it revealed a very different person, clothed in an old, Chinese style white overcoat.

"Gen Fu! Long time no see, huh?" exclaimed Bass boisterously, meeting up with an old mate from the third tournament. A very old mate, at that. He gave him a heavy pat on the shoulder in a gesture of friendliness.

"Loud as ever, Bass," nodded Gen Fu, giving a rare grin and sitting down in his usual, formal manner.

"So, why'd you decide to see the tournament? It's not like you're fightin' in it or anything, right? "

"Oh … it is certainly not me that is fighting. But my student, yes."

"Student?! Man, you have to take care of Mei Lin AND a student? God, it must be bad."

"Oh, not quite. I can say for sure that Mei Lin is growing into a fine girl. Good at nearly everything!"

"… yeah, while I have to chase Tina all across the country! She just can't stop … She wants to be everything! Every damn thing! Actress, rock star, model … and who knows what she wants next!"

Bass grabbed another water bottle from under his chair, annoyed at the lack of any other drink.

"Well, you can be happy that she is happy. She's doing what she loves doing, and she keeps doing it. If you look at it in another way, she's just being herself and chasing her dreams. And dreams are precious, you know."

"Ahh … You make everything sound all fine and good. I just wanted Tina to be what … what Alicia wanted her to be."

"Well, I believe now is not the time for idly chatting, Bass." Gen Fu pointed to the screen. Mr Strong was being called out for the quarter finals.

"OH SHIT! Right, I'd better be goin' now!" yelled Bass, leaping out of his chair, and stumbling out of the doorway, leaving a wise-looking Gen Fu nodding.

It was nice to talk to people who you could relate with.

Me: Well ... that was awfully short. Anyway, I just felt like writing that. Oh,and the title is actually an incredibly good pun. "Old?" Geddit, old? They're both old people! ... Okay, that was just dumb.
