"That's Fox, just Fox," he grumbled as the two watched the girl. Every muscle in her body was relaxed. She seemed so spacey yet focused. Her brows didn't furrow, it didn't even seem like she was concentrating on anything.
"I could take that little half pint down any day," the booming laugh of the older boy sent chills through his spine. He was terrified of the boy, his chest bulging with muscle, his cold dark almost dead looking eyes.
"Take her on then," he said. He might have been worried, but that was Fox, nobody messed with Fox.
"Don't want to hurt the little crow," the boy laughed cruely. The boy stepped forward that awful smirk still on his face. As he neared her her position didn't move, if it wasn't Fox he would have been sure she hadn't noticed the bludgen of a boy sneaking up behind her, but it was Fox. The boy reached her, and when she made no move he threw his fist forward in a sharp, but almost testing blow. He heard a snap. The boy lept back rigid. The boy's hand was mutilated. A small metal tube shot down under the visible bone of his shattered knuckle.
Fox glared, she had moved so fast not even he had noticed the movement. Fox watched, disgusted, as the boy fell to the ground moaning. She snarled and simply walked away. He trudged after her, a faint smile trickling up the edge of his lips. He turned and looked back at the boy, all sense of a smile fading, and whispered, "Nobody messes with Fox." The boy just moaned with pain as the two walked away.
"I mean I get why you wanted to come, but why'd you have to bring me into this?"
"I don't want to come to the Makah res all by myself. Besides whenever I take Claire to the doctor the waiting room is insufferably boring."
"Why couldn't you just bring Jake or Embry?"
"Because Jake's to busy with the leeches and Embry can't stand doctors offices." I sighed dramatically. I didn't really mind going with Claire and Quil to the doctors office for her check up, but I hated the feel of this res.
Quil knocked impatiently on the door and tapped his foot. If he had been wearing a watch he probably would have checked it. The door flew open, "Qwil, Sethy," a flamboant Claire yelled as she burst from the door.
"Hey Claire-bear," Quil laughed as she pounced on him.
"Hi Claire," I said smiling at her. She beamed back.
I was surprised when Quil swore dramatically. "Aww shit, duck and cover," Quil graoned as he attempted to pull me down behind the porch railing. I didn't move, I was mesmerized. Two people were walking down the dirt path that lead in front of the house. One of the figures was lagging behind. He was short and scruffy. I didn't pay close attention to him though, I was watching the girl. She strode in front of her obviously brother. She had long mahogany hair that matched seamlessly with the forest. Her eyes were bright green and took on a deadly poisonous quality. Her features were sharp and she walked like fox, silently one foot in front of the other.
I finally understood what it ment when the other wolves talked about gravity shifting. This was an all new thing. I felt so pumped with helium that I wouldn't have been surprised if I just floated away. She saw me staring and the look she gave me was so deadly I thought screaming would have been number one on my actions list if I didn't feel hopelessly mute.
"Oh god no," Quil muttered. "Please tell me you didn't just imprint on that girl. I just blankly stared at him, then nodded. "Dude, that girl is dangerous."
I smirked, "Quil, we are werewolves."
"And that girl can puncture your lungs in less than two seconds. My mouth gaped open. Of course I had to imprint on the crazy one.
