Prologue
.:.
Dawn gasped for breath as hot tears streamed down her face. The walls around her were blurring through her tears and she slowly sank to the ground. She had been through this before. It shouldn't have hurt so much. But she had let herself feel comfortable, had let her guard down too much and this is what she got.
She had been backstabbed, betrayed in the worst way possible. Even worse, by the people that she had entrusted with her secrets for the past year. How did she always find herself in these situations?
They had promised her it would be different this time, but they were wrong.
The bright light and sound of a camera flash caused her to look up in anger. There was a young man, maybe a couple of years older than her, looking down at the camera to see the photo he had just taken. Dawn felt a red hot anger fuel her.
"I swear to god, if you think you're getting out of here with that picture, you have another thing coming," she growled. The paparazzo smirked and looked up at her but it started to fade as he realized that she was being dead serious.
"Hey, hey, calm down, look I'm deleting it!" he stuttered, showing her him erasing any evidence of her breakdown.
"Give me the camera!" she barked, holding her hand out. The young photographer hurriedly complied and Dawn went through his past pictures, letting out a shrill laugh. "You thought you could pull a fast one on me? God, you guys have no morals." Dawn made sure any evidence was erased before tossing the camera back to him. "How about you have a little more compassion before you think about ruining someone's life?" she snarked, walking away, feeling a little flicker of victory, but it was quickly extinguished as she realized what was happening.
She could already see the headlines.
Crook, conman, the whole nine yards.
She couldn't let this happen again.
She wouldn't let this happen again.
She had to leave and never come back.
How had it even come to this point?
