Chapter One:
Okay, the day I died wasn't exactly my favorite day in the world, but it was definitely worth remembering. It was a very quick process. I fell off the balcony at my mom's house and my neck broke. I remember falling, and then I was kind of standing a bit away, watching my mom scream and call 911. The ambulance men claimed me DOA. I was wondering what would happen next when suddenly, I fainted. Or, well, it all went dark, so I guess I fainted.
So now, here I am, floating, or drifting, or whatever you want to call it. It's really dark, like I'm blind or something. Then I hear this beautiful, crooning, velvet voice, whispering my name, again and again, beckoning me.
Bella. Bella. Bella.
Then my eyes are opening, and this boy was smiling down at me. I sat up, gasping. The boy, who was very cute, handsome even, just smiled teasingly. "Nice to see you rejoin the dead."
"Who are you?" I asked, scrambling to my feet. My body protested, making my vision go black and I collapsed. The boy caught me, wrapping his warm arms around me.
"Easy there, mi amor. You need to be careful." The Spanish word slipped from his lips, but I was never any good at Spanish, so I was just confused.
"What did you call me?" He ignored my question, setting me on the ground. But I swore I saw him turn a little pink.
"Amante, my name is Edward, and we must be going. I want to introduce to everyone." He said, almost shining with excitement.
"Where are we exactly?" I asked, taking his outstretched hand. I couldn't help but notice he didn't pull it away once I was on my feet again.
"It's full name is La Casa De La Juventud. But most people call it Cielo." He said, pulling me along, swinging my hand back and forth like a boyfriend who had already done it so many times before.
"And who's in charge?" I tilted my head to the side, biting my lip.
He grinned almost slyly. "You are."
