Chapter One:

How did I get here? Where am I? Alice thought struggling to her feet. Alice smoothed over her hair and her dress then turned to her left, she was in an alleyway, and there were lights up ahead. She looked up to the sky to see where she had fallen from, but the rabbit hole that she had fallen into was no longer there, it had been replaced with a starless night sky. Cautiously, she walked down the dark alley, in which she fell, towards the vivid lights of what was seemingly the main street. However, as she walked the lights seemed to be moving farther and farther away.

Scared and alone, Alice began running as fast as her legs would carry her towards the lights, which seemed to move that much faster away as she did. Out of breath, Alice stumbled and fell flat on her stomach – losing a shoe, and all the lights disappeared. Alice began to cry, now completely cloaked in unwelcoming darkness. Oh...Where am I? She asked herself, wiping away silent tears, after a few brief moments of self-pity. Alice picked herself up, to be on all fours, and turned to retrieve her lost shoe, and as she reached for the shoe, a loud gun shot went off right in front of her.

Alice screamed and from out of the darkness a great pair of orange eyes turned to her, the body attached to them invisible in the darkness. Alice scrambled and fell backwards, looking up at the eyes as they steadily got closer. The orange eyes now had a visible body to go with them; a man with platinum colored hair and an unusually tall dark blue top hat bent down and collected her tiny high heeled shoe. He gazed up at her for a second before another man came into view. "The king is dead…" said the other man with a small snicker.

Alice couldn't believe her eyes; the second man had rabbit ears, light blond the color of his hair. He looked down at her, which is when she noticed a bandage over his right eye and the gun in his hand. Alice couldn't make a sound even if she wanted to; she was absolutely terrified of the two men. "Who is this?" asked the man with the rabbit ears, looking at her as if she was filth. "I don't know." Said the man with the tall hat, in a princely voice, finally standing up from where he was picking up Alice's shoe.

"I just saw her here when you were finishing the job." The man with the rabbit ears smiled, placed the gun in its holder on his hip, and pulled his black gloves on tighter. "So, where are you from? You seem lost." Alice tried to speak, but all she could manage to say was "I… I… I…" The man with the rabbit ears laughed, making Alice turn red. What have you got yourself into... she thought cowering backwards further.

"Well we can't just leave her here. She knows what we've done." "That's true." replied the man in the top hat, still holding her shoe, a serious look spread across his face. The man with the rabbit ears promptly walked over to Alice, picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, as if she was as light as a feather. It was not making sound that was Alice's problem now; her piercing screams began to fill the darkness.
