Pg. 272 in Inkdeath rewrite.
This is just a little something I wrote while reading the Inkheart series. It's a Oneshot and really short.
"Meggie…"
She turned her back to him. Doria, Farid, and The Strong man looked at her. She turned her head because she didn't want them to see the tears in her eyes.
"I don't want to feel afraid for you anymore," she said softly, though it was no use, all the others could still hear her.
"Loving someone is too hard. Love is pain and nothing more." Everyone in the cave stared at her as she said this but she didn't care. There were thing that needed to be said. "I am tired of the pain. No pain is worse than when I get the news or sight of your death over and over. So now it ends. Go and save this world, Bluejay. My father is gone and I am going back to where I belong."
Mo took her shoulders from behind and spun her around. "Meggie," he said "I am still your father even though I do things differently. I am still here!"
Meggie broke away and shouted at him, "No, you are not my father!" Tears started streaming down her face. The others looked at the scene with sadness in their eyes.
"My father is a bookbinder who lives on Earth, loves his daughter and wouldn't hurt a fly! My father is gone, dead, and replaced by the monster in front of me. My father is replaced by the killer of so many because he is foolish enough to think that what he is doing is right. Mo is gone and is replaced by the Bluejay. There is nothing more for me here. I am going home." And with that she turned and walked away. No one stopped her, they saw the hurt in her eyes, they saw the look of helplessness on the Bluejay's face as his daughter walked away from him, they saw and felt the disbelief that was suffocating the room. No one stopped her. Why would they?
