Flowers

It was 8 pm when Mai got home from her shift at the diner. Her friends always stopped by, telling her she should take a day off, or at least a break - but Mai would have none of that. It was Friday night, and she had the weekend to relax. As she took off her jacket she found that the food she had left for her roommates earlier in the day had already been devoured. Approaching the kitchen her bright fiery orange eyes fell upon a letter hung on the fridge.

Mai,

Went out for a ride. Should be back soon.
P.S. Mikoto is spending the night at a classmates house.

-Natsuki

She laughed at the girls handwriting, as Natsuki never was the neat type for as long as she could remember. The fiery haired girl headed into the living room, only to stop and stare at a large vase with various flowers of all different colors inside. It was quite beautiful to behold.

'That wasn't there earlier...Who's is it?'

She walked up to the table it sat on, picking up the mail to the right of it as she looked at the showpiece. Sniffing in the scents it was all too much for her and she stifled a sneeze. Curiosity got the best of her and she searched for a card of some sort, to figure out who it was for. She scrunched up her face in thought.

'Mikoto? No. She's far too young to have an admirer. It has to be for Natsuki. She's smart, beautiful, has a motorcycle..I mean what more can you ask for in a person? And she has many admirers too. Sheesh if I didn't know any better I'd say I sound like one of them right now...'

She slapped her hand down her face and soon spotted a card, only for all her assumptions to be made wrong.

"EH?!? It's for me? !"

On a light blue envelope scrawled in black ink lied 'Mai' as elegant as possible. Just then, the front door swiveled as a key made itself in, and in walked the biker Natsuki Kuga.

"Oi, I'm home!" Mai walked to Natsuki greeting her, card in hand.

"Hey Natsuki! Someone bought me flowers! I wonder who it is..."

The blue-haired girl looked up at Mai.
"Oh? I saw. I'm the one who brought them inside."

"Do you know who it is? Did you see the person that brought them?"

Natsuki refrained from smiling. Mai was too cute sometimes.

"Sorry Mai, it was in front of the door when I found it."

"Hm." Mai said as she rubbed her chin in thought. Discarding her disappointment she went to the kitchen and sat down. Her eager hands tore at the envelope, opening it, and out slipped a card as fancy as the handwriting on the front. She quietly read what it said to herself.

I love you.
-Your secret admirer

Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion. She was actually hoping for a long sappy love letter from someone, or at least a name to know who to thank. Instead she got nothing of the sort, except what seemed to be a secret admirer with horrible handwriting. She sighed as Natsuki walked into the kitchen asking what was wrong. As Mai explained to Natsuki her dilemma, the biker fought back the smirk coming on.

Before they knew it it was 10 o'clock and they were about to get in their beds. Mai started cleaning up the kitchen first, coming across Natsuki's letter from before. She eyed it briefly before it suddenly dawned on her. She quickly got the secret admirers letter and put it on the table beside Natsuki's letter. The handwriting matched almost perfectly. Why hadn't she noticed before? She smiled, and as she got into her own bed she turned to Natsuki across from her, giggling.

"Your handwriting sucks."

Natsuki laughed.
