~Prologue~

Kiara sang softly to herself as she prepared for bed. To think, in only one day she would be a caravanner!

"Dreaming of the stars on high

That speak to me in secret sighs

Drifting on a breeze

Only I can feel and hear

Could it be the sacred wind

That's pulling me to now begin

To walk into the dark

Carrying the light of tomorrow

Need to walk the wings of high

Beyond the earth, beyond the sky

C'mon don't hesitate

Don't look back we've got to go now

Don't fear

You'll be safe with the one

Morning star watching over all

Deep inside so silently

My heart must beat

Deep inside of me

Memories flickering and shimmering on

Endlessly

Keeping close to the path

Morning star watching over all

Moving over endless mountains up so high

Walking to the light

Your heart will

See the path and you will find your way

Just wait and see

Moving under endless skies oh so high

Tomorrow we'll follow, when in doubt,

Your promises today

Just wait and see."

Christie looked into her eldest daughter's room. "Kiara, skylark?" She stopped singing and looked up.

"Yes, mother?" Christie smiled. She sometimes wondered where Kiara got her behaviors from. Living in a house with two younger siblings, Paula and Sam, that always needed scolding, Kiara still managed to remain utterly serene.

"Tomorrow you're leaving..." She coughed, "since our other caravan has not yet returned." Luckily though, the town kept three emergency drops of myrrh. Kaiasal tried to remain prepared. The town only had five families. Kiara's family, alchemist, fisherman, merchant, rancher, and blacksmith. Two families of Yukes, one of Lilties, one of Selkies, and their very one of Clavats. The two Yukes and Lilties had been caravanning for five years now. There had been a Clavat among them...but when he disappeared, his family moved away as well. Well-father, his mother was not with them. The Yukes and Lilties were preparing to leave, which meant even more trips to Marr's Pass...

"I'm actually excited to be in a caravan with the fisherman's middle daughter, Aeries," Kiara said, removing her feather from behind her ear. Christie couldn't help smiling. They really were blessed to have such a beautiful Long Hair Clavat.

"Well...I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Kiara smiled and nodded.

"Good night, mother."
