One Shot I wrote for everyone feeling sad so enjoy!
She smiles as she listens to their laughs that seem to echo through the house. Even 6 years later and she is still enchanted by their laughs. Little six year old James Alexander Castle and 3 year old Johanna Martha Castle. Her pride and joys. She glances to the kitchen to see her youngest smearing cake batter on her son
"No Jo! The batter spose' to go in your mouth. Like this!" She hears James say as he stuffs cake batter in his mouth.
She doesn't want to interrupt them so she stays quiet and watches.
"Like Dis!" She hears Jo say as she smears the batter on her own face. Her kids both start laughing again at their own antics.
The door opens and a loud booming voice says, "Guess who's home!"
"Daddy!" Two little voices shout as little feet stomp on the ground running toward the door. She smiles as she looks at her husband pick up her kids, their kids. "What do you kids got all over your face!?"
"Nothing-" Her son replies quickly with a grin.
"Cake!" Her youngest screams while smiling.
"Cake! And I bet my lovely family didn't save any for me, huh!" He says in a mock outrage while staring at me and giving one of his dazzling smiles as he puts our kids down.
"Well Rick, we were going to save you some but we all thought that maybe you should lose some weight." I reply while giving him a grin.
"Why , are you calling me fat!" He says as he crosses his arms as if he were pouting but the small grin he's trying to hide fails and he starts laughing. He comes over and kisses my cheek and we both look over to our kids who went back to eating the cake batter in the kitchen.
I rest my head on his shoulder as our hands interlock. I smile thinking of my now perfect life, our now perfect life. Our kids. Our family. And I wouldn't change a thing.
