A Beautiful Lie

She knows it's not the real thing, but sometimes it's easier to fake a relationship than deal with a real one.

A Beautiful Lie

You look at me like you know something

Like you've finally figured it out

Like you know the stories I'm telling myself

Like you know what the charade's all about

You know I don't love him

That he's only there to prevent the truth

To forward my self deception

And denial in terms of you

He's easier than we were

We don't have that constant issue

Of trust and lack of confidence

From all that we've been through

He comes without the baggage

Of our past and history

Of wreckage and abuse

And things we won't let be

But I know I'll never love him

At least not the way that I love you

And though I try to force it

The feelings are never true

So he and I will play our game

Cause attraction we can't deny

And even though it's all a fake

I think it's a beautiful lie
