Coming out to Jamie as Asexual.
*Hey guys, I realized who I am and I came out today for the first time and it went very well, so I wanted to celebrate. One of my friends said 'Was I supposed to be surprised?' I guess everyone knew who I was before I did. Anyway, here you go my ACE and non ACE bros! Remember Asexuallity is different for some of us, so be open minded and enjoy. I'm Asex and I exsist!*
It was a Friday afternoon and Alex had just changed into her street clothes. Her partner Jamie was waiting outside the door. They had planned to go out for drinks, she could tell Jamie was really needing it, it had been a stressful week. Alex had gotten dressed in a hurry that morning and just grabbed a random shirt, she hadn't realized it was her Hella ACE shirt. It wasn't that Alex wasn't proud of who she was, she just hadn't come out to anyone at the precinct yet.
"Hella ACE? What does that mean? Ace, like and ace in poker?" Jamie wondered.
"No." She chuckled. "It means Asexual." She explained and bit her lip nervously.
"What? Like an amoeba?" Jamie questioned, clearly confused, Alex realized he probably hadn't heard that word since 9th grade biology. Alex took a deep breath and started from scratch.
"No, it just means I'm not a fan of sex, well that's what it means for me. I can mean different things for other asexuals." She told him, praying that he would be understanding.
"What about everything else? Like dating?" Jamie asked, seeming curious.
"I enjoy that and I want that, but sex just isn't important to me." She shrugged.
"Oh ok, so are you ready to go? I want to get to the bar before the game starts." The way Jamie accepted her sexuality without criticism or a ridiculous questions, made her heart swell. She hugged him, he was startled for a moment before hugging her back.
"Hey partner, what's this for?" Jamie questioned and rubbed comforting circles on her shoulder.
"It's been awhile since I've met someone who is so accepting." She said, holding back tears.
"Hey." He cooed softly and pulled back so that he could see her face. "We're friends and I accept you no matter what." He said and kissed her forehead. The two went to the bar and watched the game.
"Asexual huh? What so you don't like sex? Who doesn't like sex? You know, I bet I could change your mind." A creepy bar back said, before Alec could respond Jamie jumped up and got in his face.
"How about you back off before I go get your manager and have you fired for harassment." Jamie growled and the man recoiled and tucked his tail between his legs. Jamie sat back down beside her. She hugged him tightly.
"Thanks Jamie."
"No problem, partner. Come on, the beer is better at my house anyway." He told her and they went back to Jamie's house. The following Monday Alex went into work and she saw on her desk, in the pen cup, there was a black, grey, white, and purple flag. She looked over at Jamie and he winked. Something else caught her eye. In his pen cup there was a different flag, the flag was green, yellow, orange, and black.
"You're Aromantic?" She questioned.
"Well I did some research on asexual and then I found demisexual. After reading for awhile it just felt like I finally fit somewhere." He beamed.
"That's great Jamie, I'm happy for you." The two smiled and and went out to the squad car, feeling closer than ever.
