Testing the muggle abilities
Ahhh April! The wondrous time of the school year when exams are knocking on the door yet the weather is so fine, one cannot stay inside and burry it's head in dusty tomes and dripping quills. It is a time for adventures and quests, games and entertainment, laughs and joy.
It is a time for the tradition set by Oliver Wood to take place for yet another year- The Seventh Challenge.
Essentially, the Seventh Challenge is a game of dares. The dares vary each year, but have to fall in one of the seven categories: magical abilities, Muggle abilities, physical strength, mental strength, prank, title and creativity. Only sixty Seventh years of all four houses can participate in one year. Each dare should be supervised by a younger student or non-participating 'senior' of another house who is chosen randomly. The objective? Go through every single dare in that precise order until you can be deemed worthy of creating a dare yourself.
After knowing about the Seventh Challenge, it is not all too difficult to figure out why an odd pair was bustling around stoves and cauldrons in the middle of the night. It was time for Draco Malfoy's Muggle abilities challenge- cook a soup using no magic what-so-ever and having your supervisor eat it. If they liked it you passed on to the next challenge, if not… well you simply failed.
"Come on, Malfoy! We don't have all night. Just chop them up and put them in the pot! It's not as hard as it looks really!" Ginevra Weasley looked at the boy sweating over a couple of carrots.
"Well I'm sorry, Weasley, but your hair is distracting me. I just can't seem to be sure where those goddamn carrots are!" the Slytherin's words had just the right amount of sarcasm and taunt in them to accompany his EPIC WIN!
"Good one, Ferret, I'll give you that. Now go back to your work, chop-chop!" Ginny giggled at her own pun and looked at her enforced companion for a reaction.
Nothing.
The next few minutes went by silently. Draco was bent over his culinary master piece and Ginny was in her own little world thinking and fantasizing about this and that. The sound of splashing pulled the ginger back to Earth. Focusing back on him, Ginny saw that Draco had already dumped all the ingredients in the pot and was now stirring his soup. Sadly, it was very thick and weirdly colored.
"Splotched if you must, but not lumpy!" She chided him playfully.
"In what universe is a soup splotched, Weasley?" the blond sighed in exasperation and looked at her dully.
"In this one obviously. Plus it's a fun word to say. Come on, Malfoy, say it- splo-o-o-tchy-y-y!" The Gryffindor included some slow motion into the last word.
"Just try the damn soup already!" He huffed.
"No thank you! I'm a bit scared of the taste. But don't worry, I'll say I liked it. I'll cheat for you," the girl wiggled her eyebrows at him suggestively.
"Why? You could fail me on the spot and keep me from leaving a Malfoy trace in this game." Draco cocked his head to the side, a smirk forming on his mouth.
"Don't flatter yourself, Malfoy! I just want to see what dare you'll come up with." With that said Ginny winked at him.
A/N. And here is a challenge completed! I enjoyed writing this quite a bit and am glad to be back on FFN. I find that I quite like the idea of such a Seventh year game, might even make a whole fic about it… I dunno yet. Well here is my contribution to the FF community, now is your turn! Any and all thoughts are welcome, especially if they have a little bit of critique in them. ; )
