So Much More Than Death Alone.
****************************************
Lord, there is so much more than a painful death,
Death wasn't enough.
You suffered through our sufferings,
You carried our sins,
Through that painful night you suffered all we have and will,
Suffer.
You took it in one big dose without complaint,
You knew it would hurt,
That it itself would kill a human being,
But still you suffered in silence,
You bore the things we have borne and will bear.
You felt the pain of being teased,
And that of being hurt,
You went through the torture of being brought to you knees
Being punished for something that wasn't your fault.
You bore what wasn't yours to bear,
So we could know you understood,
So we would know you were there,
Feeling that pain right beside us,
That hurt.
You were with the martyrs when they died;
You were with the mothers at stillbirth.
You were near me late last night,
When nightmares haunted me.
You were with that child in Japan,
And the one in Austria,
You were next to that one in Sudan,
And with the one in America,
You were with the children,
Who prayed,
With those who didn't also.
You cried their tears when they learned,
That their Mama wasn't coming back.
That their Papa lost his life,
This morning you were with Timmy,
When he opened his gifts.
Yesterday afternoon you were with Cassandra,
When she learned she'd be okay.
You were there with Daniel,
When he lost to cancer,
And you showed him the splendor of Heaven.
9/11 you were there,
With those you loved,
And that was everyone.
You were on the plane when they yelled
"Lets roll!"
Thus saving the lives of many,
Yet giving up their own.
In Russia,
In Canada,
In Mexico,
And Brazil.
In Argentina,
In Belgium,
In Germany,
And Pakistan.
In all the countries of the world,
In all our sorrows and troubles,
And all of our joy.
You are there,
We are in your presence,
You are peaking over my shoulder as I write this.
Hello God.
Thank you for always being
Near.
