The Black Garden

Beo was exhausted. but who wouldn't be after fighting three giant robots and a small army of time and space warping smaller ones? She was lying on her back panting.

"Is it over," she asked seemingly to no one.

A glowing construct appeared above her and rolled its eye. "No, there are more coming, the way we arrived!" her ghost, Rose said.

Beo's eyes snapped open and she forced her aching muscles to move, as she leapt up glaring at the entrance to the Black Garden intently. Her hand rested on Thorn, the cursed hand cannon, while she waited for the first signs of movement. But after a minute of no hostile activity she realized something. Rose was hiding behind a pillar. " Hey," she said. "What's wrong with you?"

"Ah, yes well you see guardian, there were no more Vex, it was just a prank" He said sheepishly.

Understanding dawned on her. " You made me jump up and move when I just crushed a sizable amount of Vex." She said. "What's wrong with you!?. Don't you know I'm tired!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. " You're cruel Rose, too cruel".

During this verbal lashing from his guardian he had noticed a sudden spike of unknown energy. "Guardian. Run."

"What!?" She asked not understanding.

"Run. Now !"He shouted.

Sensing the seriousness in his voice, she turned on her heels and bolted for the exit of the Black Garden. Reaching the chasm between the The Black Garden and its entrance, she jumped as far as she could. She was going to make it!

A deafening explosion sounded behind her. One moment she was moving forward, the next she was being dragged back towards the Heart, or what was left of it. It was no longer simply a warping ball of pure darkness, but had tendrils of light in its purest form creeping up through the dark. Then it happened. The Heart exploded and enveloped the entire Black Garden with blinding light. Then all she could see was blackness, and then she was gone.

It happened within the span of only a few seconds, but it would be those few seconds when two worlds collided and Beo's life was changed forever.
