Diclaimer: Nothing here is mine except for the idea, and even then I'm sure its been done before. I hope you enjoy!

Light was scared.

Here he was, standing on the edge of a forty foot skyscraper looking down at the busy street below him. But that wasn't what frightened him.

Light..

He shuddered as he heard the deep voice whisper his name. The voice brought a terrible chill with it ;a bitter wind that threatened to freeze the blood in his veins, and he cursed it with every fiber of his being. He knew who it was, he knew all too well.

"What do you want?" He asked lazily, not caring if anyone else heard. Who would be up here anyway?

Don't do this, Light..

He laughed at the voice's pleading tone. It was a bitter sound, and it tickled his throat. He hadn't laughed in a while. Not since before….

Light shook his head, trying to crush his train of thought before it reached a dangerous peak. "Why shouldn't I do it? You can just find someone else. You don't need me, and I don't need you." He barked.

You're wrong Light, there's noone like you. We can cleanse this world! We can reign supreme as God of the New World! Evil will cower upon hearing our name!

The voice sounded desperate, almost as if it could change his mind. Light felt a flash of understanding and something indescribable flow through him. He'd felt the feeling many times before, and it had helped him further his goal to create a New World. But now, now the emotion was sickening him. It only made him creep closer to the edge of the building.

The image of his one true friend slid into his mind. The look of betrayal and anguish on L's face as he took his last breath. The way he'd smirked in triumph as L died in his arms. Light felt hot tears sting his eyes, and he felt no shame as they started to spill down his cheeks.

"We are Evil!" Light sobbed.

Fool! Think what you want. I know that you're too spineless to jump, anyway.

Light narrowed his eyes. "This is for L!" He spat, taking the last step and leaping off of the building.

Light sighed in content as the air whooshed past him. The sidewalk below him was coming closer at an alarming rate and he couldn't help but feel a little bit of panic.

NOOOO!

Kira's voice echoed throughout his mind as he neared his demise. Light smiled. He wasn't Kira, not anymore. And soon the reign of Kira would come to a halt.

Suddenly his world went black.

Kira woke with a jolt. As he sat up, he found that he was soaked in sweat and trembling.

"Damn it! That stupid dream, again!" He cursed, his voice shaking ever so slightly. His nights had been plagued with that very same dream since the night that he'd killed the Great Detective L.

Jumping out of bed, he glanced at his clock and saw it was only five in the morning. Kira continued to curse as he padded to his kitchen to make himself some coffee.

A little while later, he was sipping on black coffee and dressed in his favorite jet-black suit. Kira smirked as he repeated the date for the fifteenth time. For today was the day that he would kill Near and everyone else that stood in his way. "Today is the day that Kira truly becomes God of the New World."

His watch beeped, telling him that it was time to leave for work. He couldn't be late for the meeting with Near, after all. A malicious sneer lit up the face of Light Yagami, while somewhere buried deep inside the oily-black of his mind, a voice screamed endlessly, pleading for help.
