Chapter 1: My Mistake
"Maybe my mistake was much to great..." Aeka thought to herself. "All those years of fighting, and I throw it all away in an instant of selfishness."
::FLASHBACK::
"Lord Tenchi?" Aeka asked. Tenchi, who was sitting outside in a tree, looked down at the princess.
"Yes, Miss Aeka?" he asked her. She looked down and smiled.
"You want some tea?" she asked him. He shook his head.
"No...that's ok..." he said. "I'm just fine..."
"I...I made it myself," she told him, hoping that the shock of her making anything anything would change his mind. But he shook his head again.
"Really, Aeka. I just had some of Ryoko's, I don't want any more tea..."
"RYOKO'S?!" Aeka yelled. He looked down at her.
"Yes, Miss Aeka..."
"You want Ryoko's tea, but not mine...?" She asked him. He looked at her, laughed, and before he could explain, she ran off.
"You can have your demon-woman, you ungreatful jerk!" She yelled behind her. Tenchi stopped laughing and looked at her leave.
"How can she be so misunderstood...?" He asked himself.
::END OF FLASHBACK::
Aeka sighed. "Why must I mourn so greately over something so minor. As minor as tea, infact. But...it's not the tea that's bothering me...it's the fact that Tenchi was willing to accept something of Ryoko's...and not mine." She looked into her reflection in the lake. "I'm so stupid! Tenchi now thinks I'm an idiot, I just know it..." She cried harder, and her tears fell into the water and made tiny ripples. "I...I'm so foolish...how could I say such a mean thing to Tenchi?"
"Aeka?" Tenchi's voice from behind her. She didn't respond, so Tenchi sat down beside her on the fishing deck.
"Aeka...I didn't mean to hurt you..." Tenchi tried to explain. Still, Aeka acted as if he wasn't there. Not because she was angry with him, but because she didn't want to interrupt what he was saying. She was afraid any movement would stop his tender speech.
"Aeka...I didn't accept your tea for good reason," he told her. "I only refused was because your cooking skills are as bad as Ryoko's, no offence, and Ryoko's tea made me very sick...and...and..." he couldn't believe it. He was saying it now. Out of all those battles, and adventures, and life-threatening situations, nothing had ever been more captivating and serious, and important as what he was about to say. "And even my feelings for you had no reason to drink your tea. There was nothing to gain by drinking your tea and getting sick, so I really didn't have a reason to, even if I do..." he stopped. This was it. He caught his breath. "Even if I do love you." Aeka turned around. She froze even more.
"You...you love me?" She asked him. "I...I called you an ungreatful jerk..." She suddenly found herself crying again, but happy tears. She hugged him and held her head by his chest. "Oh...Tenchi..." The dark haired boy smiled.
"Ever since I met you, Aeka..." he told her. "The only reason I didn't tell you before was because...I didn't want to hurt Ryoko's feelings. I may love you, but she's still my friend. Please don't tell her about this, Aeka, it would break her heart." Aeka nodded.
"You have my word, Lord Tenchi." she with her head resting against his chest, and him looking down at her, and her looking at the ground, her face hidden, she smiled to herself.
'I won Tenchi...' she thought. 'I won Tenchi...' and Tenchi thought to himself, 'And they lived happily ever after.'
