Where is my Elsa?

Where is my Elsa?

Prologue

The young boy took her small hand into his and stroked his thumb over her smooth skin, he looked into her blue eyes and grinned. 'One day, Elsa, one day when we're all grown up I'll make you my Queen.'

Elsa laughed, she withdrew her hand from his, and ran away from the Prince, her blonde plait flying out behind her as she ran. 'Silly Hans. You can't make me your Queen.'

'Why not?' He pouted at his friend, chasing after her before enveloping her in his arms.

'Because, I'm the heir; not you. So that means that I'll make you my King instead.' They climbed up the rope ladder and sat in Elsa's tree house that had since become more theirs than hers.

'Smarty-pants.' He grinned. 'But one day, we'll be a family, right?'

'Right. We'll be a happy family, and rule Arendelle, and we can do anything we want. One day...' Elsa sighed wistfully. She laced her fingers through the young Prince's and smiled.

'Hello my beautiful Princess.' Hans pushed Elsa's bedroom door open and found her at the dressing table that her parents had gotten her for the Christmas previously.

'Hi there my Prince-Charming.' Elsa giggled, turning around in her chair to greet the young boy.

'Happy birthday!' He handed Elsa a small white box, wrapped in blue ribbon.

'What is it?' Elsa blushed, unsuccessfully trying to contain her smile.

'Open it and find out!'

Elsa carefully unravelled the ribbon, and took off the lid. Her eyes lit up, as she removed a silver chain from the box, hanging from it was a silver daisy with a diamond in the middle. 'It's beautiful, thank you. I love it.' She bit her lip gently and kissed him on the cheek lightly.

Elsa sat back down at her dressing table and continued putting on the tiniest bit of make-up. Her mother had shown her how, the day before saying that as it was her birthday, she would be allowed to wear a small amount of make-up. Her father had then replied that, apart from her birthdays, she would not be allowed to wear make-up for at least another seven years.

While she was applying blusher, Hans untied the hair-tie in the Princesses plait and ran a brush through her silky blonde hair. He removed her blue hair band that ran across the top of her head.

Elsa opened a small draw in the side of the dressing table, and Hans rummaged through. He took out a daisy hair slide, as he knew that daisies were his friends favourite, which had influenced his choice of present.

He brushed Elsa's hair once more, and took clipped her rather long fringe out of her face with the hair slide.

She smiled, and chose some sparkly pink lip gloss and carefully put it on, before she stood up and took Hans' hand as they both left Elsa and baby Anna's bedroom.

Elsa jerked her head up as something hit her window. Her teeth bit into her bottom lip as she contemplated ignoring it. Against her better judgement, she opened the window to find Hans sitting in the tree that grew by her window.

'I've recently been told that Princess Elsa is no longer accepting visitors,' he said in the most posh voice he could muster.

Elsa stopped herself from smiling. Seeing this, the Prince's face fell. 'So I suppose it's true then?'

She nodded, letting her loose hair fall over her face.

'Why ever not? Best friend exception?'

'I'm sorry Hans. I can't let you in.'

'Elsa... Why not?' His gaze filled with concern for his friend

'I'm not safe to be around,' she said softly, not meeting his eyes.

'Why not? I know you'd never hurt me.'

'I can't control it.' Her voice was all but a whisper.

'Why the change? You always could before,' he replied almost as softly, leaning closer to her open window, moving to take her hand into his own.

She jerked her hands away, and closed the window. 'Good-bye Hans,' she mouthed as she drew the curtains closed.

With a determined expression on the young girls face, she opened the window wide. Earlier, she had put on a pair of trousers and a shirt, and pulled her ever growing hair into a high bun. She had put on some boots with grip, and a jacket.

She locked her door, and went back to the open window, she drew the curtains closed behind her and wrapped her arms around the closest branch of the tree that Hans used to come and sit in every day. He had stopped coming in the end. Although she would never admit it, Elsa had enjoyed the company, even if she wouldn't speak to him or go anywhere near the window.

She didn't blame him for getting on with his life and forgetting all about her. It was her own fault for pushing him away, she was only protecting him after all.

She climbed through the trees, losing her footing a few times but she had managed to hang on and get to her tree house.

She climbed onto the small part outside of the tree-house, and quickly went inside.

It hadn't changed since she had left, not knowing that it would be many years before she returned. She sat down on the miniature sofa before her eye caught a small note on the table – addressed to her.

She picked it up, and blew away the thin layer of dust on the top and opened it.

Elsa,

I know that you won't let me anywhere near you, which is why I am opting to do this instead of visiting you as I know you will not listen to what I have to say.

You'll probably wonder why I stopped visiting by the time you read this.

But I promise you, I visited you every single day that I have lived in Arendelle.

I leave tomorrow, my father has called me back to the Southern Isles, deciding that my time staying with his sister is finished.

I'm sorry for my sudden departure, (and my use of very long words but no doubt you know what they mean).

I love you Elsa, and some day I will return, and I will make you my Queen. Or I suppose you can make me your King if you would prefer. Or not. But I will live in hope that you still feel the same way towards me as you did when we were younger.

My feelings towards you have not and will not change.

Until we meet again, my love.

A single tear rolled down her cheek as she realised that he had not given up on her, and he had kept coming. She had not driven him away, and there was still a hope for them.

She folded the note back up and slid it into her pocket before settling back down on the sofa.

A/N: Whew, I said I'd have it up all ready for March... I didn't take into account that I'd have mocks all this week, my birthday, and being ill for two and a half weeks so that was pretty much my February...

But I did it! I wanted to be able to have the first few chapters up, but I've almost finished editing the first three so I think I'll post one every two days? I'll see how I go.

I lost my plan for the story, which is why you write things on the computer! But I do have a copy, a lot less detailed, but a rough draft of stages of the fic nevertheless so I guess its better than nothing.

Reviews are greatly appreciated, as I wish to write professionally one day :)

I hope you enjoyed
