New Life, New World... One Familiar Face

~Prolouge~

A full moon shown down on a clearing, three figures sprawled about it. "Sesshoumaru!" The voice of a small child cried out, "No! Don't leave me

here Sesshoumaru-Sama! Don't leave me by myself!" Rin, as the child was called, was on her knees, hovering over the lifeless looking body of a

much older figure. Long white hair, soaked with blood, cascaded onto the ground, a pool of scarlet liquid swallowing it up. Amber orbs were

slightly open, and there was, for the first time it seemed, some emotion showing within them. It was a look of sorrow, and helplessness. Wounds

covered the mans body, letting more blood escape onto the ground. Tears streaked Rins face, as she watched Sesshoumaru fade towards his

death. "Rin," Came a hoarse, yet soft voice from the man, almost like a gasp, "Go. Get away from here. I don't want you to see anything else.

Just leave." Sesshoumaru's eyes fell upon Rin. "Please, Sesshoumaru-Sama, don't leave me! Stay here! Don't leave... please..." The girl cried,

a pleading tone in her voice. Her tear-filled eyes glanced over to another body, a few yards away from Sesshoumaru. Jaken. A pool of blood

surrounded him as well. Rin cried even harder. These were the two beings who had ever slightly cared for her. Now one was gone, and within a

few minutes, the other one would leave her as well. She looked over to the side, spotting something shining on the ground. It was the Tensaiga,

shattered to pieces. "Please Sesshoumaru," The girl pleaded, picking up one of his blood-stained hands in her own, "Don't die..." There was a

slight movement in Sesshoumaru's chest, as he breathed the last breaths he would ever take again. "Please Rin, you must leave. More demons

are sure to be coming, and if you don't leave soon, they will slaughter you. Leave Rin." Though Sesshoumaru's voice was weak, there was an

urgency in it. As if on cue, there were crashes as trees fell to the ground, as more demons came. Rin looked down at Sesshoumaru pleadingly

as he drew his final breath. "Go." That was the last word Sesshoumaru said, before his body became lifeless, and his eyes closed completely.

Rin stood up, and remained standing there for a moment, staring at the the dead body of Sesshoumaru. Then,

without a second glance back, she darted off, into the thicket of trees, heading away from the demons, Jaken, and Sesshoumaru.

Tears blinded her vision, and she had no idea where she could go. There was nowhere. This was the second time she had nowhere to go. It

seemed like such a long time ago, that Sesshoumaru had taken her in, in her time of need, but now, Sesshoumaru was gone, as well as Jaken,

and she had no one else to run to. Her legs became weary, her heart felt empty, everything was swaying in front of her, and she felt like she

would be sick any moment. Even though she knew she must keep running, so the demons wouldn't catch up with her, she stopped at a tree, and

sunk down at it's base. Her knees were drawn up to her chest, and her face was burried in her hands. "How could this have happened?" She

cried to herself, "How could someone kill my Sesshoumaru-Sama?!" An endless stream of tears continued to flow down her face, soaking her

hands with the salty water. "This is all a dream! Any minute now, I'll wake up, and Sesshoumaru will be right there, still alive and well." Though as

much as Rin tried to force happier thoughts into her mind, she knew the truth; Sesshoumaru was dead, and he wasn't coming back... ever. Time

seemed to last forever, but finally, Rin drifted off to sleep. She awoke hours later, the sun now creeping through the canopy of dense trees. Her

face was red from her tears, which eventually stopped flowing, though the sorrow was still eternally inside her, and with each passing second, her

heart was in pain for her Sesshoumaru-Sama. It took her a few minutes to realize what happened the other night, but when she finally did, it

struck her hard. Tears welled up in her eyes, though before they had time to spill, a sword was held up to her neck. She gasped slightly, at the

suddeness, and her eyes peered up to the figure of a rough looking man. His hair was very long, dark black, and drawn up in a ponytail. His cold

gray eyes stared down at her, as if in disgust. "What's a little girl doing out here all by herself?" He said sarcastically. His voice was hard and

evil, and a sneer played across his mouth. Rin didn't answer him, for all her strength was focused on keeping the tears back. "Well, you look sad,

so maybe I'll be nice and put you out of your misery." He said again with a laugh. He drew up his sword, and was about to swing it down upon

her, when out of nowhere, red blades came flying at the man, taking him by surprise and thrusting him away. A man, with an odd resemblence to

Sesshoumaru, appeared in front of her, face turned away at the man. He was clothed in red clothes, his hair was white like Sesshoumaru's, and

there were little dog-like ears sticking up from his head. 'This must be Sesshoumaru's half-brother, Inuyasha.' Rin thought silently to herself.

'What's he doing here though?' Before she had time to answer her own question, a woman, slightly older than herself, and wrapped her arms

around her, and was pulling her away from the fight. Rin looked up at the woman. Her hair was black, and her eyes were chestnut brown. She

had a kind look to her, though there was a worried expression on her face as she watched Inuyasha. Kagome. A small kitsune was clinging to

her shoulder, and there were two other humans beside the girl and the fox demon. One was a woman, with black hair up in a ponytail, and the

other, a male wearing purple monk's clothes. A cat demon was in the woman's hands. "I see two jewel shards, Inuyasha!" The woman named

Kagome yelled out, "There's one in each of his arms."

The fight between Inuyasha and the strange man continued, as Inuyasha dodged the other man's blows. Inuyasha took out a sword from it's

sheith, and instantly, it grew three times it's normal size, in the shape of a fang. He took the sword, and thrust it into the gut of the other man.

Slowly, the man started falling down to his knees, but before he reached the ground, he turned into a misty dust-like thing, and blew away with the

wind. Two purple jewel shards fell to the ground, and Inuyasha bent down to pick them up. He walked back to the group, and handed both of the

shards to Kagome, who put them carefully into a small glass jar.

All eyes were now upon Rin. Her knees were weak, and it felt as if at any moment, she would pass out. "So, who are you?" Inuyasha was the first

to speak, though his voice didn't have the slightest hint that he actually cared. "Hey, Inuyasha, isn't she the little girl who always follows

Sesshoumaru around?" Kagome asked him, carefully scanning over the girl. Tears were once again brought to Rin's eyes at the mention of

Sesshoumaru's name, but she fought them back, not allowing herself to cry in front of these people. "Yeah, I think she is. Her scent does smell

familiar come to think of it." Inuyasha replied to her, "So, where's Sesshoumaru?" He practically spat the last part at her. "H-he d..." Rin couldn't

hold back the tears any longer. They started to cascade down her cheeks, enabling her to finish her sentence, due to the many sobs. Kagome

put a reassuring arm around Rin's shoulders, and pulled her up into a friendly hug, somewhat in a motherly way. Shippou, the kitsune, Sango, the

other woman, and Miroku, the monk, had not yet spoken, but they watched Rin with as much curiousity as the others. "Perhaps we shouldn't ask

her yet." Kagome whispered quietly to Inuyasha, continuing to comfort Rin. "Calm down, It's alright." Kagome said to Rin, patting her back softly,

"Do you think you can walk? We'll take you back to our campsite." Inuyasha suddenly turned his attention to Kagome. "Wait," He said suddenly,

sniffing the air slightly, "I can smell my half-brother's blood on her." Rin looked down at her hands, that were still covered in Sesshoumaru's blood.

"What happened girl?!" Inuyasha practically yelled at her. Rin turned to face Inuyasha, but she didn't speak. She didn't need to, it was visible in

her eyes. "Where's his body?" He questioned her again. Rin turned back away from Inuyasha and burried her face into Kagome, as all the others

remained confused about what the two were talking about. Rin limply pointed a finger in the direction she had run from the other night, as

Inuyasha turned that way. "Kagome, put the girl on Kirara's back with Sango, Miroku, and Shippou." Inuyasha said to her. Hearing her name,

Kirara transformed into her fiery cat form. Kagome set Rin up on her back, and Sango and Miroku climbed on as well. Kagome got up upon

Inuyasha's back, and as soon as she did, Inuyasha leapt off, darting towards the direction Rin pointed. Kirara followed behind, with Sango,

Miroku, Shippou, and Rin on her back. It didn't take long before the group reached the clearing where two bodies were sprawled out. The blood

pools were still there, staining the ground beneath. "Holy shit!" Inuyasha exclaimed under his breath as he saw the sight. Kagome gasped at the

sight, and slid off Inuyasha's back as he landed. She walked up to a tree, and leaned against it, growing faint from the sight of all the blood.

Kirara landed gently on the ground, and transformed back to her smaller size as soon as the others got off. As soon as she hit the ground, Rin

immediately ran over to Sesshoumaru's side. The others just stood there in horror. They had seen blood before, but nothing like this. The trees

and bushes were covered with the dark red liquid, and there were many other things that could be seen with blood on them. Though the worst

sight, was in the middle, where Jaken and Sesshoumaru lie. Rin's arms wrapped around Sesshoumaru's body, and her head rested on his

chest, eyes closed tightly. She was muttering things silently that sounded like, "No, Sesshoumaru-Sama." and, "Please wake up Sesshoumaru."

Her finger nails were piercing into his back, gripped tightly to his blood-soaked clothes. Slowly, Sango walked over to Rin, trying to pry her away,

but it was no use. Rin refused to let go, as if she did, he would dissappear from her life forever. Silent sobs could be detected, from the way her

body shuddered every once in a while. Sango walked back over next to Miroku, and watched Rin helplessly. Eventually, after what seemed like

hours, Rin finally agreed to leave, and they took her back to the camp-site.
