Chapter1

Sarah Roy was perfectly miserable. Her boyfriend, George Simon, had left her. Her---the clever,
witty Sarah.

Sarah was quite tall for a fifteen-year-old, with long coppery curls cascading down her back and
mellow, deep mahogany eyes. She was in her fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry, in Ravenclaw, and her now ex-boyfriend was in the same house.
It will be unbearable now... I'll never be able to eat a meal in peace. That is, not with
Curious George avoiding me like the plague! She thought hopelessly, using the name that always
annoyed George most.

She was sitting in the Ravenclaw common room next to the fire, as it was the middle of winter
and she was freezing cold. It was fluctuating between icy rain and snow. The weather suited her
mood.
She was a voracious reader, and often used books as a way to escape her life.
She was just getting involved with a thick, juicy novel, when her best friend, Debbie Farah
cruised in.

"Watcha doing, Sa?" She called out innocently, " Not feeling sorry for yourself again, are you?"
Sarah didn't reply.
"It's been a week... don't you realise that you're too good for him?
It's time that you pick yourself up and get on with your life!"
"You're right..." Sarah admitted, " isn't there an outing to Hogsmead tomorrow?"
"Uh-huh"
"So I'll just have to go then, wont I?" She said with a grimace, "if only to get you off my back."
"Hey," said Debbie, "what are friends for?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That Sunday, Debbie dragged Sarah to Hogsmeade. They were in a very crowded Three Broomsticks,
warming up on some creamy butterbeers,
when three figures in cloaks and scarves walked in, snow blowing in as they opened the door.
Sarah could barely discern their faces until she realised that they were other fifth year
students from Gryffindor, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley.
There were no tables left for them to sit at, and as there were only her and Debbie at a
fairly large table, Sarah beckoned them over to sit with them.

"Hi everyone," said Sarah, "you wanna sit with us?"
They all knew each other's names and faces from seeing each other around school,
so no introductions were necessary.
"Thanks a lot" Harry grinned and Ron and Hermione mumbled something like: "Yeah, thanks."
"No problem" said Debbie, smiling.
They all sat down and started talking about this and that, and Sarah noticed that Harry kept smiling at her. It made her feel wonderful and she grinned back,
forgetting all about whats-his-face, her ex-boyfriend.

Afterwards, Harry came up to her and told her that he wanted to get to know her better,
and that if she was available, that she should tell him in the morning, at breakfast,
the following day.
She felt like she was floating all the way back to the castle, up the stairs, to the statue of a gargoyle. She absentmindedly put her fingers in each eye of the gargoyle and said the password - Grape - and the gargoyle jumped aside, to reveal a hidden door, which she glided through, lost in her thoughts about Harry Potter…famous Harry Potter.
