Sunshine

Fitz stared out at the rain-covered ground, frustration making its way into him. He had specifically chosen this day because the forecast had said that it was supposed to be sunny, and evidence from the days leading up to the current helped to support that.

So then… why's it raining?

He knew that the weather could change in a blink of an eye and that he shouldn't have relied only on what the weather forecast had said, but it still filled him with disappointment.

Today was supposed to be special…

He glanced over to where Simmons was currently standing near him, the cat clutched in her hands. They had brought the animal with them because it was supposed to be sunny, plus the cat hadn't wanted to be left behind. They had planned to go on a picnic date today due to the weather but now it seemed like that wasn't going to happen.

The day had started out well enough, with them setting out the blanket and picnic basket down in the sun, before just relaxing. They had just been about to unpack the food and eat when the rain had suddenly came. There had been no clouds to warn them of the rain's arrival, which just made the fact that it was raining so much more curious. They had hurriedly picked up the basket and blanket, with Simmons grabbing the cat, and hurried under a nearby pavilion when it had suddenly started down pouring.

Why can't the sun just come back?

He sighed, his thought only making things seem more irrational. He knew that the weather couldn't be changed or influenced by thought, although one could change it if they created a machine to influence the weather. Sadly Fitz seemed to be all out of devices like that right now…

"Please smile Fitz." He glanced over at Simmons in surprise, seeing a small smile on her face. "We're supposed to be having fun, remember?"

"I know, it's just…" He trailed off before gesturing back towards the rain. "It's raining."

She gave a small laugh at that before glancing out at the rain as well. She sat the cat down on the pavement before coming over and gently taking the blanket from his hands. He stared at her in confusion as she walked towards the middle of the pavilion and laid the blanket out, before glancing over at him, the smile on her face wider now.

"Just cause it's raining though doesn't mean we can't have a picnic." He felt a smile make its way onto his face as well at her idea.

It's just like her to find a solution to problems like this…

He walked over to the blanket, which she had just sat down on, causing the cat to come over and lay on her lap. He quickly took the seat next to her before laying the basket down and starting to pull out they had brought to eat.

So this was originally supposed to be longer but I wasn't quite sure how to continue it. I'll leave what happens after to your imagination. :) I wanted to at least get out one more one-shot about this couple before Season 3 started up. Either way… I hope you all enjoyed!
