You'll always be my Thunder
summary: george can't figure out what keeps drawing him to carry on when he feels so lost.

Things were hard for George after Fred's death. He would go to work, at the joke shop, every day with a smile on his face, hoping and praying that it would be the day he could make it through without the horrible pain in his chest. He wanted, more than anything, to be able to go a day without feeling like the walls were closing in on him, like he was suffocating. He felt withered, weary and completely unlike himself. He felt as though he had lost that spark that made him "George".

That's why, on that Tuesday morning he hated that nagging feeling that made him rise out of bed. He hated that he felt the need to get dressed and go on with his day to day routine. He yearned to lie in bed and just fade away. But, something was calling him, making him go. He had to keep living even if he didn't want to.

He didn't know what he was holding onto, or why but he knew he had to try. He didn't understand why he had to keep trying, or why he even bothered in the first place, he just knew he had to.

Verity remembered when George used to smile. She remembered when he used to laugh and joke and revel in life like it was a gift. He always made her smile. He could make anyone smile. He used to be the jester and the entire world was his court. He would perform and make the villagers and the king's men and the royalty all laugh.

Now he was still and silent. He was distant. He wasn't George anymore. He was lost and broken. He was a shell of his former self. It seemed as though a dark shadow was cast over him everywhere he went.

Verity missed the pranking, laughing, optimistic shop owner that used to enter ten minutes late every morning and never apologize for it. She missed the days when she would glance over and catch him smiling, anticipating the outcome of his new product.

She missed everything about George Weasley, the real George Weasley, and she hoped that someday she would get him back.

She just had to be patient.
