She rubs her fingers

Ever since she 'died', Eve can still feel the blood on her fingers. Warm and wet and sticky.

She rubs her fingers

It's a non conscious act, her digits do it on their own. While she's reading, or when she's dozing off on an extra cot in the back.

She runs her fingers

The first time Flynn notices he brushes it off. It only begins to worry him when he notices that she's losing focus as she does it. It's not too often at first, then increasingly more frequent. It scares him, but telling her so scares him so much more. Because he's afraid she'll fall through his grasp once she realizes that she's begun slipping away.

She rubs her fingers

Every once in a while Eve will feel herself begin to distance. Not from her friends, but from her own conscious. Like she's jumped into the water and her body parts are slowly separating and drifting in opposite directions on their own accord.

Except that she's still together. Her limbs are still attached, but her mind is fractured. And every time she does it, rubs her fingers, she's rubbing away the bonds, the connections in each fracture of her almost broken mind. Yet still,

She rubs her fingers

She fears telling Flynn that something is wrong. That maybe she needs help. Help because she can still feel her blood on her fingers. And it won't come off now matter how much she rubs and cleans them. Help because she is falling to pieces.

And she has to be told that she needs to come back, and come back in one piece.

But she doesn't say anything, she just rubs her fingers.
