It wasn't her day. The whole world was against her and the throbbing pain in her hand just went to prove that fact beyond anything else.
A trip to County Hospital seemed like the only option and, begrudgingly she had agreed to go. Anything to stop her damn hand hurting.
A nurse took a quick look at her hand, far too quickly to make a completely accurate diagnosis she was sure, and led her over to a room off to the side of the ER.
"Take a seat and Dr Barnett will be in to see you." the blonde nurse said calmly before turning and leaving Jade to her own devices.
It took a second for her to register the words, but she was sure she had heard clearly. Dr Barnett. Jades spirits instantly lifted.
'Dr Barnett, Dr Ray Barnett. Fantastic!' Jade remembered Ray very well indeed, their relationship had left very little to the imagination. Physically speaking that is. It had been a hot and steamy affair, barely able to keep their hands off one another. And god was it good. He was definitely gifted in the bedroom department; there was no question about it.
'Too bad it didn't last any longer… he was so caught up on his roommate! It was kinda sad to see actually, he was clearly falling pretty hard for her, in deep denial about the whole thing of course, but falling none the less. The way he would talk about her, all the time… it was a talent he had. No matter what we were talking about he could always bring it back to… damn what was her name? Neela! That was it. I always thought it was a pretty name.
'If I hadn't known she was married I would have been absolutely convinced something was going on… I mean no man could talk about a girl so much, with so much love and not be with her. But he was definitely in love with her. Poor guy.
'Still, that was what? 4 years ago… he has to be over her by now. I mean, he can only pine for her for so long right? She's married. He has to have moved on by now! Yes, maybe it's time Ray and I got reacquainted… and what better way than accidentally bumping into him when he's at work? It could be fate… or at least that's what I'll say…'
It was then that the door to the room opened and Jade turned; a seductive smile firmly in place.
Her face fell.
"Hello Jade, I'm Neela Barnett."
'Oh.'
