for the ultimate pairing drabble competition using the pairing dean/seamus and the prompt water
You meet him at the creek every day. Ever since the war ended, you figured that you both needed a little escape from the crushing reality that came from the losses of the battles. The fact that so many were killed hadn't really sunken in until very recently. However, you found the calming dripdripdrip of the running water to be a wonderful way to soothe you.
Dean showed up and crawled under the low-lying limbs of the overgrown trees and down into your spot. He went right up to your side, his strong fingers intertwining themselves in yours. You leaned into him, your head falling to rest on his shoulder. His subtle breathing reassured you, keeping your mind at ease.
You wanted to cry and have Dean comfort you like he does, have him whisper "Hush, Seamus, it's alright, it's over," but you don't want him to think that you're still weak, that you still haven't moved on.
You shakily walked up to the bank of the creek, pulling your shirt over your head as you go. You kicked your shoes off and dragged off your socks. You stepped out slowly into the frigid water, allowing it to ebb and flow over your feet as you make your way in deeper and deeper.
Dean was right at your heels, taking your hand gently as he entered the creek. You walked hand in hand until you reached the deepest point of the small creek, which you know so well by now that your footprints are imprinted on the bottom.
You took a deep breath and playfully pulled Dean under the water's surface, still clinging to his hand. Letting the water envelope the two of you in a dense and cold-to-the-bone state, you let up a stream of bubbles that says "I love you."
He grinned broadly, pulling you closer and kissing you oh so gently. Simultaneously kicking your feet, you both broke the surface, smiling and knowing that no matter what had happened, it was nothing compared with what was to come.
