Cliffie: Just because Kousuke/Hiyono is a great pairing and Kousuke is such a flirt. He's dirty, and cruel, and incredibly fun to write about, the twisted little freak. I know he says he doesn't lie, and I bet he doesn't at times just to throw people off, but I think he lies more than we think. Inspired by volume 2 of Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna (now available at your local booksto-- is shot).

Disclaimer: I do not own Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna or any of the characters. This is for entertainment purposes only.

He was used to being the bad guy.

He lied, and he hurt people, and he killed them. And usually he didn't give a damn about them either way. He tended to not feel bad about killing them, or about those left to mourn his victim's death. He was a Blade Child, after all. He didn't feel guilt – only the yearn for the kill. Only the lust for blood more more more and that was it.

He liked lying. It didn't even have to be blatant, because he oftentimes preferred to dabble in the obscure art of subtlety. It was like a strange form of seduction – lure the person and destroy them, but don't let them know what you're doing as you tear them apart. He enjoyed seeing the reactions on people's faces. He enjoyed lulling them into complacency before shocking them with the truth. It was always worse than the lie, when you got down to it. Dirtier, and harsher, and far more painful than a lie could ever be. Lies were soothing; he should know, since he lied to himself almost as much as to others. He even lied about lying, mostly to Little Narumi. Let the idiot believe what he wanted; it was more fun that way.

But, every now and then, he told the truth about some things.

He was being truthful when he told Hiyono she was cute. He really did believe that. And he would have taken her out – to get juice, or food, or whatever she wanted – just because of that fact. Girls that cute were hard to come by these days, and she was funny and good-natured and he liked that about her. He liked things untainted, occasionally, to offset the impurity dwelling in whatever soul he had left.

But he was a liar, a terrible, blood-stained bad guy, and he couldn't get out of the tangled web he had created for himself.

It was too bad, really. He had been looking forward to that juice.

Still, that was the way the world was. It did nothing but disappoint, and lies were so much better to listen to than the truth.

Cliffie: And there you have it. And yes, I went with the anime for Little Narumi in place of Narumi Jr., because the latter is just lame. Please review!
