Minerva was rushing down the corridor, reading a letter she had gotten about the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. She hadn't noticed the tall dark man standing in the middle of the doorway of the Great Hall, and walked right into him.
"Oh Severus! I'm so sorry! I-" she had said in one breath. Severus smirked.
"It's obvious to see that you were preoccupied, no need to apologize." Minerva stared at him. This was not at all like the Severus she knew.
"Alright..."she looked up and glared.
"What?" Asked Severus, frowning. Minerva pointed up.
"Oh."
"Albus" they both said. There was silence.
"You can't move can you?" asked Minerva.
"No, I can't."
"Thought so. Nor can I." there was a pause.
"A kiss." Minerva said quite suddenly.
"Excuse me?" Severus asked, hoping he'd heard what he thought.
"You have to kiss me."
"Do not!"
"Do you ever want to move?" Severus sneered, but said nothing.
"Let's get this over with." Minerva sighed. She lent closer to Severus and brushed her lips against his. His lips were soft and reminded her of better days.
When neither could move, Severus groaned.
"You didn't expect that to work, did you?" he asked. Minerva looked away.
"I had rather hoped."
Severus bent down and kissed her. Not like the one she had just given him, but a sweep-me-off-my-feet kiss that he had always saved just for Minerva. Her mind wandered back to before Harry Potter had come to Hogwarts, and she pulled away.
"Merry Christmas, Severus." she said, moving around Severus. He watched as she left, the same sinking feeling coming to mind as he had nearly 4 years ago.
