Hello, before I begin I would just like to say a few things.
For starters this is the first time I have ever written fan fiction, let alone published it online. Please, bear with me. The reason I wrote it was because in my English class we have to write a short story every day at the beginning of class based off of a picture. Today's was a river running through the jungle so I thought of Daring Do. From there it just happened.
Daring Do and the Lost City of El Dorado Preview
The gloomy, oppressive jungle towered about the intrepid adventurer Daring Do. The night was hot and humid with predatory sounds lurking in all directions. Daring had carried herself this far but her injuries were taking their toll. The crash had twisted her ankle and fractured her wing. She desperately needed to settle down for the night.
Coming to a likely spot she made camp in a clearing and attempted to start a fire, unfortunately the wood she was able to gather was damp and sodden, making it futile. Just as Daring was about to give up a deep, throbbing growl announced a presence. She froze, for a moment it seemed as if the entire world had stopped and was encapsulated within that glowering threat.
Then there was a flurry. She turned, the jaguar pounced. Daring rolled to the side with not a moment to spare, wincing as her fracture ground against the crushing earth. She ran as fast as her weakened state would allow with her hunter in hot pursuit. Racing through the underbrush Daring knew that dodging and weaving would only prolong the chase, her ankle throbbed, the end was nigh. At that moment a serene sound broke through the tumult of her mind. Rushing water was near. Certainly a simple sound, but now it could have been an angelic chorus! It would mean her salvation. Daring surged towards it with renewed vigor as the roaring grew louder, both ahead and behind, one of life and the other of death.
There was a snap, Daring fell to the jungle floor, her leg having finally failed her. A heavy paw pinned her firmly to the ground, the predator leered over her. It leaned in with its slavering maw hanging wide as its claw dug deep rents across her chest. Terror gripped Daring as her hooves searched franticly for a means of escape. They seized upon a fallen branch and with a defiant shout she broke it upon her would be killer's head. Scrambling away she pushed through the pain to reach the raging river. As she dived into the rapids agony arced through her as the jaguar raked her legs. Still it gave chase, loath to abandon its prospective meal. They wrestled furiously in churning eddies as the current swept them downriver. Daring felt faint, her body was suffering ever more ruinous wounds. The carnivore's triumph was a hand, but strangely it vanished as quickly as it had appeared. With her consciousness fading she heard a new kind of roar. Turning she saw the waterfall.
There was a brief struggle against the inexorable flow, the beginnings of a plummet, then darkness.
Thanks for reading. Now that I have typed it up it feels terribly short but whatever. Please feel free to comment or critique the work. It was rather fun to write but I am not sure if I will be continuing it. That would depend on if I get enough positive encouragement to undertake the project based on your opinions as well as if I find the time. If you readers like it however I will do my best to make time.
Thanks again!
