Prologue
Reid was barely alive by the time Morgan had found him. They had split up in the woods in Alaska while going after the killer. He had tried to stop Reid, reminding him of the upcoming blizzard, but it was too late. Reid was determined to do this on his own.
Determined to prove himself.
Hotch told Morgan it was too dangerous to go out searching for Reid but Morgan didn't care. He wasn't about to leave his friend out there to die.
When he found Reid he thought he was too late. Reid's face was red, his lips chaped and blue. little snowflakes on his lashes. He laid there, barely shivering, barely moving.
"Reid?" Morgan shouted. "Reid!" He pressed his head against the chest and sighed as he felt Reid breathing . "Thank God." He looked around, the blizzard was picking up.
"I have to get you out of here, kid," he muttered, and took his gloves off briefly to rub his already frozen hands. He took the time to rub Reid's black and blue hands. He decided the kid needed the gloves more than he did. "I have to get US out of here," he added as he scooped up the kid's body.
His feet crunched on the heavy snow. He knew that the cell phone wouldn't work.
Snow pushed against his face, almost trying to knock him down. He couldn't stop shivering as he tried to warm Reid's body. He stumbled along the hill.
A part of him realized that on top of worrying about surviving he had to worry about a possible killer nearby.
But he doubted the killer would be dumb enough to stay outside in a middle of a blizzard, even to kill two FBI agents.
"Did I mention this w...as a ...r...really d...dumb idea R...Reid?" He managed to say, despite the stuttering caused by the shivering.
He froze as he thought he saw something. It looked like a cabin. He sighed in relief.
"D...Don't worry b...uddy, I...f...found shelter for us." He stumbled on the snow, causing more to cake onto his clothes. He managed to push the cabin door open. He could hear the wind howling, beating against the walls. Screaming against the window, giving a high peircing whistle.
But at least they were inside.
There wasn't much. It was more of a shack with a table and a couple of chairs. No beds. There a couple of blankents though. As he laid the blankets down and laid Reid gently on them he could tell that he had to get Reid warm right away with the type of hyperthermia Reid was experiecing. He closed his eyes. He didn't like this idea at all and knew Reid wouldn't when he woke up.
But screw it. He had to do it, to save Reid. To save both of them.
Quickly he took the already soaking clothes off of Reid's back. His boots were the hardest to take off. Then his shirt that stuck to Reid's chest, and his wet socks. My God, Reid was frozen everywhere.
Morgan quickly stripped as well and rolled Reid over to the side.
"All right Reid, I hate to have to do this," he whispered. "But we have to get warm somehow...if you ever mention this to anyone I'll kill you though."
And with that he pressed his naked body against Reid's and hugged him tightly.
He rubbed his hands against Reid's hands and waited for the warmth to come and enter their bodies. Waited for Reid to wake up,and waited for the blizzard to be over. If only he knew there was someone lurking outside...
