The night was bright with lanterns in the air, illuminating the sky of Maysaf.
Amber eyes wondered above the bureau as Altair stared below, his hood over his head as he watched the city folks come out into the street and shout aloud, celebrating a year that has come and also a new decade.
A new year... The thought ran through his mind over and over, watching the lanterns float up to the sky. No matter how many times it may happen, Altair could never get use to this, the calming warm feeling in the air as a breeze slightly moved his robes from side to side.
"Novice." A soft voice whispered in Altair's ears, knocking him out of his concentration at the people below.
"Malik," Altair turned around to see his one armed lover behind him who creeped up behind him without him even knowing, arms wrapping around his waist and figures drifting towards the master assassins hood. Altair couldn't help but smile, feeling the heat and heartbeat of Malik echoing against his back, mimicking his own.
"Well...What is it?" Malik asked then, clinging to Altair, resting his chin on his shoulder.
"What?" Altair replied, turning his head again to the older man, whose face was dangerously close to his.
"Your resolution." Malik answered as he rolled his eyes at the younger man cheeks that lit up a tender red, still tracing the tips of his hood.
Silence cut through the two then, both watching the lantern show, enjoying the quietness, exception of the cheers in the streets, the stars in the sky meeting the flowing decorations.
"...Peace." Suddenly came out the assassins mouth, a smile fixing upon with lips. That is what he wanted for all his life, what he fought for and now that most of his trials and tribulations were over, peace was all he wanted. He felt coldness then, his hood was pulled off, his face exposed finally to the wind.
"And how do you think it will happen?" Malik smiled contently pushing Altair down, his legs straddling over his, pinning him to the floor of the ceiling playfully, a hand pressing against his chest.
"Only the future will tell," Altair mumbled, not caring much anymore. He reached up, gripping Malik's hem of his robe pulling him down back to his face pressing his forehead against his.
"Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year, Novice."
