The Unstable
Part 1

Disclaimer: Rooster Teeth came up with everything you recognize. I came up with everything that confuses and angers you.
Category:
Angst/Drama
Rated:

Note 1:
I'd call this story AU (ignore events from episode 100), set directly after season 5. Things have not turned out all sunshine and daisies for our favorite bunch of idiots in a box canyon. Welcome to the Deafening Whispers universe.
Note 2:
Each character will have a mini-saga that will be interwoven throughout the story. We'll start with The Unstable one. I mean, did anyone think that after having a being created entirely of anger and rage messing about in your head, that Doc was going to walk away unscathed? I didn't…

As his mind slowly came into focus there was an overwhelming sense of solitude. He just listened. For hours he listened, and there was no sound other than his heartbeat. No voice.

He felt at peace.

….

..

.

"Medical Officer DuFresne?"

His heart thundered wildly in his chest and he recoiled hard, feeling a sharp pain in his wrist. His eyes snapped open at the pain and he awakened from wherever his conscious mind had retreated.

The silence was suddenly almost choking as he took in the sterile room. Everything was starkly white and the faint scent of disinfectants hung in the air. His eyes darted across the room frantically before landing on a man in a bed whose attire was just as white as everything else around him. The man had Asian characteristics, though diluted by a generation or two of Americans. The stranger's chin length black hair had an unhealthy, unwashed, sheen to it and his brown eyes seemed hollowed and almost bruised.

He blinked.

So did the man in the bed.

When he opened his mouth to speak and those actions were repeated as well, he suddenly understood that he was looking into a wall length mirror. The mirror image was thin, almost emaciated, and pale.

'That can't be me! I eat right and I run two miles every morning and night. I'm in top physical condition.'

He motioned to touch his face when the jerking pain in his wrist made itself known again. The mirror image seemed to be wearing some sort of bracelet… He looked down from his reflection to his own wrist. Handcuffs. One end around his wrist and the other secured to the metal side of the bed he was sitting upon.

"Medical Officer DuFresne?"

'Who is this.. DuFresne' he wondered... But there was silence from the part of his mind that usually answered him.
