No Words To Say
He was staring out at the city skyline. He didn't hear her enter his office, or come up behind him. She laid a hand on his shoulder, then propped her chin next to it, staring out at the city as well. It was her way of asking what he was thinking about, dreaming about. He hadn't realized how far he'd wandered in his thoughts, a millions miles if he hadn't sensed her approach with his usual alertness.
He glanced down at her, a question in his eyes. She just smiled at him. They didn't really need words. Everything that needed to be said was voiced with eyes and hearts. He wrapped an arm around her waist, holding her close and dropped a kiss to the top of her head in thanks.
She turns to me sometimes and asks me what I'm dreaming
And I realize I must have gone a million miles away
And I ask how she knew to reach other to me at that moment
And she smiles because it's understood there are no words to say.
