School's Out

Ciara Wallace and Ebony MacGregor, both in their seventh year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were on their way to their first lesson on Monday: Potions. They could hardly repress their grins. It was their last week at Hogwarts, and they planned to really enjoy it.

For today they had planned the most brilliant prank, and it would all start in Potions.

They took their seats and tried to calm down. The door to the room in the dungeon opened and Professor Snape entered the classroom. He reached the front of the room and turned to face the class.

"The fact that it is your last week in this institution will not excuse you for performing poorly in my lessons. Today we will revise some of the more important potions, starting with a strong Dreamless-Sleep draught. Instructions are on the board."

Everyone scrambled to get the stuff they needed and started on their potion. Ciara smiled to herself.

'This is a really easy one!'

Exactly thirteen minutes after the start of the lesson, the relative silence in the classroom was interrupted by an electric guitar. The riff of the song 'School's Out' from Alice Cooper resounded through the dungeons (and also the rest of the school, it had been quiet some work, to come up with the right spells for that). Snape's face was a carefully schooled mask that gave away nothing. He told the teenagers to calm down again. Then Alice's voice sounded through the castle:

Well we got no choice

All the girls and boys

Makin' all that noise

'Cause they found new toys

Well we can't salute ya

Can't find a flag

If that don't suit ya, that's a drag

The students were grinning and listening to the music. Snape ordered them to remain in their places and left the room in search for the origin of this sound.

School's out for summer

School's out forever

School's been blown to pieces

The students were delighted by this musical treat, but the teachers were confused. None had found anything outside their classrooms and the song was still resounding in all the corridors and rooms.

No more pencils, no more books

No more teachers' dirty looks

The music could be heard in the whole school, even in the greenhouses and in the nearer grounds.

Well we got no class and we got no principals

And we got no innocence

We can't even think of a word that rhymes

Dumbledore leaned back in his chair and decided to enjoy the song.

'This prank must be from the seventh years,' he thought amused. It was clearly more imaginative than similar activities of former years. And the spellwork was quite good. Someone obviously had done they're research.

School's out for summer

Scholl's out forever

School's been blown to pieces

Ciara and her friends were doing their best to act as surprised as the others. It was working quite well, because they'd thought one of the teachers would have put a stop to it by now. Apparently their combined spell wasn't all that bad.

No more pencils, no more books

No more teachers' dirty looks

Even Professor Flitwick hadn't yet been able to stop the music. The source hadn't been located so far, which made it a difficult task.

Out for summer

Out till fall

We might not come back at all

School's out forever

School's out for summer

School's out with fever

School's out completely!

With one last chord the song came to it's conclusion and silence returned to the castle. Ciara and Ebony exchanged a triumphant look across their cauldron. This had really been a complete success! This 'Last Year Prank' would be talked about for some time!
