I don't really know where this is going but it will be updated (eventually O.o)!! This is set after the epic two-parter Gambit in season seven in which Picard has been declared dead and Riker has been escorted to the brig by Data.
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek - I will someday! I just don't own it now...
Under Arrest
"Picard to Brig."
"Ensign Harris here sir."
"I realise that I'm supposed to be dead, ensign, but would it be possible for me to speak with Commander Riker?"
"Of course sir, I'll put you through."
The ensign pushed a button on his console and nodded at commander Riker, who sat up on his bunk.
"Number One, I'm disappointed in you," Picard's voice echoed in the commander's ears after what seemed like hours of silence, "How could you even think of betraying the Federation like this?"
Riker rolled his eyes. "I can hear you laughing, Captain. You knew this would happen, didn't you?"
"I don't know what you mean, Mr Data has just informed me of your whereabouts and I thought it necessary to contact you about the severity of your situation."
"He's only just informed you? He left hours ago!"
Picard paused.
"Captain?!"
Riker heard a chuckle and scowled at the ceiling.
"Don't scowl like that, Number One, it's not a good look on you."
"Are you watching me?"
"No, I'm not, I know you well enough to know when you're making faces."
"Brilliant, just brilliant. Am I ever going to get out of here? I'm tired and this bed is uncomfortable."
"It's not like you to moan, Number One."
"I think the situation calls for it, don't you?"
"Yes, perhaps it does." Picard paused again. "I'd like to see you in my quarters immediately, Commander"
"Of course sir, I'll be on my way as soon as someone lets me out of here."
"Picard out."
Riker stood up and looked around the small cell confusedly for a minute before turning to face Ensign Harris at the controls. He sent the Ensign a quizzical look, to which the reply was an exaggerated shrug of the shoulders. He rolled his eyes and, with a sigh, flopped back down on the small bunk on the far wall.
