Kitty knelt down, looking at the jar that was supposed to contain Nathaniel. The magicians and everyone else took the effort to find him. What was left of him, and now, this was all they could find. She turned away, disgusted and ran.

"Why? After all the things that we have been through, after all the things that we have felt that we would survive together you ran. Coward."

Kitty blinked, and remembered there conversations, the way that they acted together. They were suppose to hate each other and at the end they, at least she ended up falling in lov-. No. She didn't fall in love with that despicable magician. She didn't. What she fell in love with was Nathaniel.

I finally thought that you where going to be O.K., that something would finally turn out right, that… that we would both be happy.

"I hate it" she whispered to herself. "I hate when people let me down". Stanley, Jakob, , Fred, Timothy, and Martin all those had been temporary, and when she see Nathaniel for who he is he thought, maybe he was different, he might not be temporary.

Why, why did you want to be the hero this time? Why couldn't you be more thoughtful, thought of what you would do to the people around you, to me?

Kitty sat down, slumped down, drained of energy. She stares at the statue in the distance, where everyone is doing a memorial ceremony to honor John Mandrake not Nathaniel, John Mandrake. She wanted to scream at them, tell the fools that Nathaniel was caring, and didn't want to hurt people while John Mandrake was just a fool. What were they honoring him for anyway?

Remember what we had thought, you said that you would come back, what a lie that was. You're like everyone, and everything else, temporary. Did you even think, remotely about how I would feel if you died? You didn't care did you, all you cared about was acting heroic, and how if you didn't die a heroic death you couldn't face me. Coward.

Looking in the horizon she realized how cowardly Nathaniel was, and how of all people to fall in love with it had to be the on who was willing to die for his country and not bat an eye. She wished she fell in love with a coward.
