Title: +BLIND+

Full Summary: What would Kakashi do if he had to take care of a blind, hated little girl? They taught he how to heal, but she wanted more. So they forced Kakashi to lead her around, teach her how to be a ninja. But will he ever find out the real reason he got told to adopt this little genius? Or forever be in the dark..? A little out of character, with Kiri in the story line now. She is a mystery so far, but along the way Kakashi will be tested by her many times, making the road of life longer than either of them think. Hints of pairings. Centered mostly around them, but occasionally the other members of his team will be introduced. Such as Minato and Obito. Set right before the Yellow Flash is Hokage. Story is better than this summary.

Disclamer: Naruto, Kakashi, and all of the plot and setting belong to Kishimoto. Not me. The story idea for a blind character is mine, along with Kiri, but everything else is his.

Sarutobi stared at Kakashi, who was standing there politely, if not impatiently. He waited until the door was closed, then began the conversation. "Kakashi, I have a new secret mission for you. S-ranked." Kakashi perked up. "Yes, Hokage?"

"This mission is very important. No one must know that it is really a mission." The young boy nodded. Sarutobi was sad to know that Kakashi believed that he was only a tool. But hopefully this mission would change his bleak attitude to that of someone kind and cheerful.

"Now, here are the details," he passed the masked boy a scroll, "but if you have any questions, ask them now." Kakashi nodded politely again and accepted the scroll. The Hokage watched calmly as Kakashi's face hardened as he read further and further.

"No disrespect, Hokage, but why am I being assigned to this? It's a babysitting mission." He shook his head and rolled up the scroll, looking down at it with scorn. "I am not doing this. Thank you, but no."

Sarutobi grinned so suddenly that Kakashi had to blink. "That's fine." Kakashi let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Thank you." He turned to leave, and the old man called out after him, "Just don't forget to leave your headband and ninja status."

The silver haired boy froze, as Sarutobi expected him to. "What, Hokage?" Sarutobi nodded. "If you refuse, I will strip you of your status. I can only trust you with this mission." He sugar coated it a bit so Kakashi would be tempted to take the bait.

"But….why me?" Kakashi was turned around and up close to the desk where the Hokage sat. Gotcha. "Because you are not too old to be considered a pervert, but old enough to take care of someone else. Besides, you're the number one student. Or am I wrong?" I expect you to teach this child, and it will be good for both of you. She learns pretty quickly…"

Kakashi looked down. There was a pause. Then, "Thank you. But I cannot teach! I don't know how!"

The Hokage just shrugged. "Figure something out. You're smart enough to." He sighed and rubbed his temples. "Look. I need someone smart, strong, young, and capable of taking care of this child. She is blind and hated."

Kakashi gave it a little more thought. Sarutobi pushed in another bribe. "You will receive double pay at the completion of this mission, along with monthly checks to pay for food, clothes, weapons, scrolls, and anything else you might need."

He was smiling beneath his mask for the first time in years. He could teach her as much as he could in a week. Then he would take the pay and be done with it.

"Yes, Hokage-sama."
