A/N: A little something I wrote up the other night. It's not too long, but it's something I'd been thinking about doing for a while now.
Disclaimer: I own no characters mentioned.
"Hey, Zekrom?"
With glowing red eyes, the Deep Black Pokemon turned its sights to the human trainer who had somehow managed to tame it with a Pokeball. It raised its chin in acknowledgement to Touko where she sat on her perch in a nearby tree. The young trainer was kicking a foot lightly back and forth as she looked through the canopy of leaves above her, sunlight shining around them. Now she glanced down at her large - well, she wasn't entirely sure what she should call Zekrom. It had been over a year since her encounter with N at the top of his castle, her battle with both him and Ghetsis helping to destroy the roof of it with the intensity of their fighting.
"What do you think we should do now?" Zekrom turned toward her now, slowly making its way toward her. It stopped right below where she sat on a tree limb looking down at it. "I mean, we've defeated Team Plasma and rounded up all the Sages for Looker; N disappeared with Reshiram after we battled his so-called 'father' and he realized catching Pokemon isn't as bad as Ghetsis had made it out to be; we went against the Elite Four and Alder, managing to actually defeat them in one go somehow; so what now?"
Zekrom was silent for a moment, then turned to look where the sun was beginning to set over the horizon. It raised a large arm to point in the general direction of the glowing orb as it descended behind the tree and mountain line to the west. Touko followed where it was pointing, shielding her eyes so she could see what it was trying to show her. In that moment, she knew what it was. She watched the rays of lights as they shone across the white surfaces of the clouds that hung low toward the mountain tops - the reds, pinks, oranges; so many colors of the rainbow that she was almost overwhelmed emotionally by the natural beauty of it. Pressing a hand over heart, she was brought close to tears at its magnificence. "Oh Zekrom, it's like a painting!" She looked down at her legendary partner, smiling as she rubbed her eyes with the heels of her hands. "Okay. Okay, I get it. You're telling me to just enjoy the simple things in life, aren't you?"
It was silent once more, but she swore, as it turned away to watch the sunset, she saw a slight grin. Giving a small sigh, she got to her feet carefully, making sure the soles of her boots didn't slip on the bark. "Here, let's head back before Mom starts blowing up my Xtransiever."
This time Zekrom gave a slight chuckle as it moved close enough to the limb for her to safely jump onto its shoulders. "All right. Time to head home, buddy." She held on as best she could, patting the side of Zekrom's head and saying, "Let's fly!"
A jolt of electricity seemed to shoot quickly through her as she heard the whir of the generator in Zekrom's tail. She looked over her shoulder as it began to glow a luminous blue, bright against the darkening shadows. She felt the warmth of its power as it surged through Zekrom's body, the blue lights along its body dazzling her. I'll never get used to that, she thought with a smile. It was quickly wiped away when Zekrom pushed hard against the ground, sending them zooming through the air in the general direction of home. Or that! she laughed inside.
A/N: Short but sweet I guess you could say? I was wondering if I should make this an actual story or maybe just an anthology of short stories. I'd like to know what readers think, so please leave a review, or even PM me about what everybody thinks. Thank you :)
