Twist on the death night, Tylendel doesn't die.

Tears flowed freely from his eyes. Just bear with it! His mind screamed at him, pleading with him to grit his teeth and push through. Tylendel didn't abandon me, I won't to him, go! He was in agonizing pain now, the words in his mind like beacons across the sky, calling to him, allowing him to continue.

The branches caught at the hem of his robes, trying to pull him to the ground, to leave him lying in the mud while his lover fought for his life. Unable to think coherently anymore, with the loss of Tylendel threatening him.

He tore through with pent up anger and charged from the thick cove of trees. His feet hit the ground running and he went as fast as he could, breath coming in sharp gasps, his lungs screaming in pain for rest but he couldn't, couldn't stop, Tylendel's life depended on it.

He had lost his mind and needed him, his 'ashke. The temple emerged in front of him and he saw Savil and Jayson running towards him. He sped right past them, to where he had seen his love go. Now he had the hard, stone floor under his feet, echoing with a hollow sound.

His heart clenched painfully as he ran up the stairs. There was Tylendel, standing on the edge, ready to jump. Vanyel went forward and leapt; hitting the elder's body and rolled him away from the edge.

For a moment Tylendel looked lost and confused, the uneven sanity in his mind finally creeping back into the shadow. Vanyel clung to him, wiping the hair out of his face, whispering soft words, wanting it all to be over, to be back in their bed, sleeping, wrapped in Tylendel's arms.

"'Lendel, my 'Lendel. I'm still here for you, I'll never leave you and you know that, please, please don't leave me." Tears spilled down his cheeks and Tylendel took a shuddering gasp before grabbing his arms tightly and howling in pain and desperation, the loss of Gala and Staven still a raw, fresh wound in his mind and heart.

Vanyel held him close, not breath could have come between their bodies and they cried out in their shared pain. The rain continued to fall, soaking through their already dirty, torn clothes. He wished more than anything that he could go to sleep and that this horrifying night had been just a dream. Only a dream.
